Y/n quite liked going to the library as it was as if it was her sanctuary, she felt safe there as she quite liked the thought of old-fashioned things, she'd mostly be seen wearing clothes like black jeans or plad jeans, slip on black shoes with white socks, a white shirt with a preppy jumper with no sleeves over with a long, overised black coat. Y/n's favourite thing to do was write, especially whenever her thoughts were filled with ideas in the middle of that night that she'd go over to her desk, light a candle and start writing on a scrappy piece of paper, her handwriting was cursive but very messy but she didn't care. She found it more beautiful.
As she wondered the halls of the library, she noticed a newcomer that she hadn't seen before which startled her slightly as barely anyone would come in here. But then again, there was a section of toys to buy and it was like the library was also a bookshop and toyshop. A very old-fashioned and un-modern library but definitely one that attracted a lot of people's eyes who enjoyed old-fashioned libraries, Y/n being one of them.
She continuiously wondered the aisles of the library as she searched for a specific aisle, one that directly led her back to the newcomer; she had blonde hair with pinkish highlights, blue eyes, quite tall, slim, she seemed approachable but then again... Y/n was quite shy and timid as she wasn't the best with talking to other people. So, she stayed quiet not knowing she was staring the blonde haired girl down,
"You know, if you're going to stare. You may as well start a conversation." The blonde haired girl told Y/n as she grabbed a book glancing at her giving her a smile before turning back to the book, Y/n stood up more and cleared her throat.
"S-Sorry..." Y/n apologised as she looked down hesitantly, no longer leaning against the bookshelf, the girl giggled.
"No need to apologise. You're good." The girl assured Y/n with a small grin on her face. Y/n walked and stood next to her, her finger-tips tracing over each book as she scanned for a certain one.
"Haven't seen you here before," Y/n announced quietly not looking at the blonde haired girl as she wasn't sure where this was going but tried her best as her mother always told her to branch out and put herself out there. "are you new around here? Or... just realising that this was a place?" Y/n asked her curiously as she picked up a book and scanned through it,
"Just visiting friends, they got busy with work so I decided to take a stroll around town." The girl explained to her, Y/n nodded her head as she understood how sometimes that can be nerve-racking, being in a new town for friends but them getting busy and leaving you on your own. Was definitely something that Y/n strongly disliked but then again, she was an introvert with a very low social bar that would quickly run out before she'd have an anxiety attack.
"Ah, that must suck." Y/n told the girl, the girl turned to her.
"Would it?"
"I don't know, do you like walking around new town's alone? Or being with your friends?" Y/n asked her still not looking at the girl next to her but she knew that the girl was staring her down as she felt her eyes piercing into the side of her head.
"Both." The girl answered, "I'm Olivia." she introduced putting a hand out, Y/n shook her hand looking away from the book and giving Olivia a small smile.
"Y/n." Y/n introduced, Olivia grinned.
"Nice name." Olivia complimented which made her slightly blush looking back down as they removed each other's hand from one another.
"T-Thanks..." Y/n thanked. After a moment of silence, Olivia spoke up once again.
"Got any good coffee recommendations?" Olivia asked, Y/n looked up at her and nodded her head.
"Yeah, let me buy this and I'll take you. I've been meaning to go there as I need to pay someone a visit." Y/n told Olivia, she looked at the book that Olivia was reading and pointed at it. "Do you like that book?" Y/n asked and Olivia nodded, a small smile forming on her lips.
"Y-Yeah... I've heard good things about it." Olivia told her, Y/n nodded her head snatching it out of her hands which startled Olivia, Y/n walked off with Olivia trailing behind her, she went over to her friend; Harmony.
"Hey, Harm." Y/n greeted with a small grin as she placed two books down, and pulled out money.
"Hey, Y/n. Who's your new friend here?" Harmony asked scanning the two books.
"O-Olivia, nice meeting you." Olivia greeted which Harmony shook her hand and Olivia turned to Y/n. "Are you buying me that book?" Olivia questioned as she felt bad as she wasn't the biggest fan of people buying her things as she always felt guilty about it straight after.
"Yeah," Y/n bluntly replied, she handed the money for it over to Harmony as she had a discount. Olivia sighed and looked down as she removed her hand from Harmony's.
"What're you doing now?" Harmony asked Y/n. Y/n pointed at Olivia as she grabbed the books while Harmony gave her change.
"Taking Olivia to the coffee place that's 10 minutes from here."
"Oh! Are you going to see Alison?" Harmony asked Y/n as a huge grin formed on her face, Y/n nodded her head and Harmony passed her the two books, Y/n passed Olivia her book and Y/n placed the book by her side. "Have fun, nerd."
"I will." Y/n replied and walked off, Olivia trailed behind her as she glanced at Harmony giving her a quick wave, Harmony waved back.
"So, is she your best friend?" Olivia asked turning back around as Y/n opened the door, she nodded her head.
"Yeah. She mostly looks after me though." Y/n told Olivia which intrigued her as she moved the book to her side, as she jogged slightly to walk with Y/n's walking speed, Y/n noticed this and slowed down for Olivia which Olivia smiled at her at.
"How come?" Olivia questioned,
"My mom left me and my dad is too drunk to take care of me." Y/n bluntly replied as if it was nothing, Olivia looked at her taken aback.
"I-I'm so, so sorry--!"
"No, I don't care. You seem like a trusting person." Y/n complimented as they walked in silence to the coffee shop, Olivia wondered what to say to Y/n and Y/n wondered what to say to Olivia to make things better but then again, she was too excited to see her gran, Alison and her grandad, Henry. They went inside to Alison holding two trays and Y/n quickly rushed over, "Gran, what have I told you about doing stuff like this?" she asked as she grabbed one tray and followed Alison over to the table,
"Oh, shush, Mija. Let me work." Alison fired back sassily, Y/n sighed as the jazz music mixed nicely with the rain outside, it was a nice and small coffee shop that Olivia was taken aback by how nice it was.
"Woah..." Olivia mumbled underneath her breath as she looked around, Y/n walked back over.
"Sorry about that, follow me." Y/n told Olivia to which she nodded in agreement with, Y/n led her to a table right by the window and Olivia sat down. "What would you like?" Y/n asked her,
"Hot chocolate with whip cream. Please?" Olivia asked, Y/n grinned.
"Coming right up," Y/n told her and went to walk off but she quickly turned around, "is it okay if I sit my stuff down here? I won't be a bother?" Y/n hoped that Olivia would agree but then again didn't want to disturb her.
"Of course not, I do owe you." Olivia explained to Y/n, she smiled and took her coat off hanging it up and then setting her book down as well as her phone and leather journal. She rushed to the back room and made her and Olivia a quick Hot Chocolate, she added whip cream and took their drinks out and set hers down in front of Olivia who waited patiently. Alison walked over,
"Is my granddaughter finally talking to someone other than Harmony?" She gasped out which made Olivia laugh and Y/n look down embarrassed. "I'm kidding, Mija. I love you." Alison told her as she patted her shoulder,
"Uhm, do you need help with anything else?" Y/n asked as her eyes slowly trailed up to Alison, seeing Olivia in the corner of her eyes smiling at the two's interaction.
"Do I hear my granddaughter?" Henry asked coming out from the men's bathroom, Alison and Y/n turned to him as he let out a laugh and rushed over, Y/n stood up giving the old man a hug.
"Hey, pops." Y/n happily welcomed.
"Hi, amor." Henry welcomed and the two pulled away, Henry looked at Olivia and smiled. "Why hello. What can we do for you today?" Henry asked as his smile widened. Olivia placed her hand out.
"Hi, Olivia." She introduced, they shook hands then she shook hands with Alison.
"Nice meeting you, honey. Well, we better go. I'll see you two later hopefully." Henry wished before he walked off, Alison giving Olivia and Y/n a smile before she followed after Henry. Olivia turned to Y/n who grabbed the book and glanced up with a wide smile on her face.
"You're gran and grandad are lovely." Olivia complimented dearly as she took a sip of the Hot Chocolate, she let out a hum of delight. "And this is amazing." Olivia further complimented, Y/n laughed.
"Why, thank you." Y/n thanked as she gave Olivia a head nod off approval as she took a sip of her own Hot Chocolate.
*****
The two managed to build up a conversation as Y/n was writing in her journal here and there.
"Is it to early in our new friendship to ask what you're writing?" Olivia questioned with a hopeful look, Y/n's eyes shot toward Olivia with a smile on her face, she shook her head and leaned forward onto the table closing her pen and shutting it over.
"What do you want to know? There's a lot." Y/n teased to which Olivia let out a small laugh at.
"Well you seem to be very intrigued with what you're writing in your journal there," Olivia observed, Y/n nodded her head agreeing with what she was saying so far. "you want to tell me what you're writing?"
"I like to make up these stories, it's dumb." Y/n dismissed but Olivia shook her head.
"I do not have a creative mind and I can appreciate the art of someone else's creativity. Try me." Olivia pushed which Y/n blushed at.
"Female reporter makes murderer fall in love with her." Y/n started to explain, (By the way this is just one of my ideas, most likely won't go anywhere. Anyway, back to the story) Olivia stared at her shocked and surprised,
"I need more." Olivia begged as she let out a nervous laugh, Y/n snickered at this and nodded her head.
"Well... the Female reporter is always trying to be the best, get to the crime scenes first, her dad not really being around that much and when he is... it's never really good. No siblings, mother's out the picture." Y/n continued to explain, "But... when she is covering this one case, when she goes home, there is a letter. Some sort of decryption that she has to sort out through a riddle, and one thing leads to another," Y/n further explained as she leaned more on the table as she stared intently into Olivia's eyes seeing excitement and intrigument build in her eyes. "she meets the murderer. But dumbly and foolishly goes through with meeting him, alone. How far will she go to get the truth and answers? Not sure yet." Y/n answered her own question as she could already tell that it was what Olivia was going to ask.
"You are amazing. You have to write that." Olivia encouraged, but Y/n shrugged and sighed leaning back in her chair.
"Not sure." Y/n expressed.
"Not sure?" Olivia reiterated astonished at how she sounded so unbothered by something that intriuged her in seconds. "What do you mean-- You are writing that. Even if that means I have to force you or not." Olivia protested.
"Whatever you say, Welch." Y/n commented as Olivia had told Y/n her full name as it was one of their conversation starters.
"You will, I mean it L/n." Olivia assured pointing her finger at her before she picked up her Hot Chocolate and took a sip.
"If it helps you sleep at night, sure." Y/n further teased.
Although Y/n didn't like talking to much people as her attention span was very shortened and would often get distracted by how boring people usually were, Olivia seemed to make things easier and bring her out of her shell slightly which Harmony noticed as she watched from outside, she had been there for 15 minutes hoping that her best friend would check her phone to see the 25 messages she had sent of 'Make. A. MOVE!' since Harmony hadn't seen Y/n have a conversation with anyone that seemed to flow so easily.
The end.
