Jaemin watches Jeno coo and squeal about a few things towards his talking cat for almost ten minutes now. He could see and hear Bongsik meowing in pride with a small grin at the end.
"Can you behave now so Bongsik could tell us something important and serious?" He couldn't help but blurt out with a tinge of– something in his voice he couldn't decipher.
Well, he has a guess but he brushes it off like that tingly feeling he gets nowadays.
Jeno turns to him and smiles, nodding off at his words before pulling his legs up on the couch to sit criss cross apple sauce style and inches himself closer to the elder's side.
Jaemin turns to the cat who meows at him, "talk." He rolled his eyes at her.
Bongsik hisses back at him before pausing to clear her throat, "Jeno," she looks at the said boy who perks up at the mention of his name. "Do you know your parents?" She asks first.
Jaemin was expecting Jeno to go all sad at the sudden mention of his parents, but he was weirded out and flustered when the boy instead hums as he ponders in thought before shaking his head calmly.
"No, nonna always changes the topic about them. But she did say they were wonderful people." He replied with a little smile on his face.
Bongsik nodded at his words and decided to continue, "you know how I was a gift to you from your nonna, right?" She asks and earned a hum from Jeno in confirmation.
"Jeno, sweetie. There's more I have to tell you about your family." she slowly said and observes Jeno's reaction.
The boy blinks and nodded, "go ahead, please." He gestures in a small mumble and unconsciously grabbed Jaemin's hand on the elder's lap to play with his fingers.
Jaemin glances at their hands and looks away with a small cough, he instead focuses at Bongsik and her next upcoming words.
"Do you want me to be straightforward or go long and slow?" The cat asks for permission on how to share and explain Jeno's family history in a way the boy is comfortable with.
Jeno turns to Jaemin and then back to Bongsik, biting his lip, he replies. "Straightforward please."
Nodding, Bongsik starts to get on with it as she sat on top of the coffee table to match with their eye levels. Being a cat is fucking hard, alright?
"Your nonna is a witch while your dad was a wizard." She said and waits for any reactions.
The only reaction she got was a small gasp from Jeno who looked like he wanted to do the same usual squeal and all to the information like he did with her and Jaemin.
But he stops himself when he felt a squeeze from Jaemin's hand, the elder raised a brow at him to signal him to behave, which he obviously did as so.
Bongsik then continues, "your mom was a normal human being. They obviously fell in love and had you," she gestures at him with her tail.
"Is he a wizard too or just a human being?" Jaemin spoke up this time, his question also made Jeno look at Bongsik in a way with his eyebrows knitted together.
"The latter." Bongsik replied, "clearly he got it from his mom. But he got his personality from his dad." She said.
The vampire boy muttered something incoherent for Jeno to hear but for Bongsik to roll her eyes at. She clicks her tongue at him before not bothering to comment on it.
"Anyways, since it was back in the era of– well, wars I guess. You know the usual, fighting over territories and stuff like that." She mentioned.
She then looked hesitant at the next part on what she's about to say, "wait– before I continue, are you one hundred percent sure you're okay with everything being blurted out?" She glances between the two boys back and forth.
Jeno could sense her sudden feeling of anxiousness, so he smiles encouragingly and reaches his hand towards her chin to rub her favorite spot.
In an instant, Bongsik purrs and almost rolls over to her back, wanting to continue this instead of having a discussion with them. Oh, she could legit fall asleep just like this–
"Ahem." A forced cough from Jaemin was heard as he appears to be glaring at her, "don't laze around." He retorts.
He then looks at Jeno who paused midway of moving his hand to caress Bongsik's tummy, "stop touching her." He demands.
The younger pulls his hand away reluctantly before having an idea, he smiles and opens his arms to hug the elder beside him this time.
Jaemin grunts at the action and also from Jeno suddenly giving up all his weight on him, he scoffs and didn't really realized he slings his arm around Jeno's shoulders to pull him closer.
The younger bites back a smile and turns to his cat who regained her composure from the small caressing session from her owner.
"Please continue, Bongsikie~" he said.
The feline meows at him in reply, "okay, uhm alright..." She jumbled with her words and took a deep breath.
"So you don't know what your parents look like, or basically anything about them." She repeats.
"Your dad..... You were in danger, Jeno. Along with many others." She said.
"There was a huge war with almost every creatures around, but the vampires and ghouls were going at it at that time, surprisingly the werewolves weren't involved."
She looks at Jeno who clings onto Jaemin, awaiting for what's coming up next. The elder also waited patiently, not knowing he was gently squeezing Jeno's shoulder from time to time.
"A ghoul got you," Bongsik mumbled.
Jeno widened his eyes as the vampire boy turns to him, having a worried look on his face and turning back to the talking cat, eyebrows knitted together.
"You almost died that night... But your dad," Bongsik sucks in a breath. "There's this complicated spell not many wizards or witches can do, because it requires a sacrifice."
The human boy in Jaemin's arms was already tearing up silently while his cat continues. "Your dad did it, he did it to save you. You were saved Jeno, but your dad and your mom were gone for good."
"Why was his mother involved?" Jaemin asks with a glare.
"His mother was the sacrifice, they both agreed to it already. Seems like they've planned it for a long time beforehand, his dad only passed away as well because the spell was too strong and he couldn't hold it any longer."
"His nonna then took him in and based from what I observed, she knew everything too. She did a small spell to erase the scary and traumatizing memories in Jeno's head, per request of his parents." She ends it just like that.
It went quiet, too quiet.
Until Jeno then bursts into tears and hides himself on Jaemin's shoulder, trying to silence his cries as he made small whimpers instead.
"My dear soulmate, I have no words right now..."
"Pup, I'm sorry."
