Chapter 351: Bathran's Hair

Every city had poor people and some form of a slum. As Dawn followed the rules of reality, it also reflected this. The place where Lu Li was standing was equivalent to the Common District.

The Night Elves weren't necessarily the most loving or kind-hearted people.

Pelturas Whitemoon's daughter Little Leila had been lying on a bed for three days. Her fragile, pet.i.te body was curled up and her face showed a bitter expression. Her lips were pursed and her groans were heartbreaking.

Pelturas was once a brave sentinel and had partic.i.p.ated in many fights.

Unfortunately, he had lost a leg in battle and had become disabled. As such, he later left the army and married a poor wife, but the moment his wife gave birth to his daughter, she died of an illness.

On a regular day, Pelturas would go out to the mines in order to find something that could earn some money. This was his ancestral craft.

However, with only one leg, he could barely make living.

His daughter was his everything.

"Poor Little Leila, you're all I have. If you die, why else should I keep on living?" Pelturas had planned to rush to the Temple of Fire in the hope of gaining some reward. Hopefully, he could earn enough to get the Doctor's shot in order to save his daughter.

"Excuse me, is there anyone here?"

Just as Pelturas picked up his crutch and was about to leave, he heard someone knocking at the door.

Upon opening the door, found a Thief who had his face covered and who was equipped with leather armor.

Pelturas had no affection for Thieves and said impatiently, "Who are you? Why are you here?"

"I'm following Remulo's instructions," Lu Li sighed. "I've come to solve your troubles sir."

"Remulos?" Pelturas' eyes widened as he spoke. "The Moon G.o.ddess must have heard my prayers; my Little Leila can finally be saved! Can you heal her?"

Lu Li took two steps forwards and looked at the pale girl on the bed before shaking his head.

"Sorry, I'm not a doctor."

"How can this be?" Pelturas felt like he had been cheated; this stranger couldn't help him after all. How could he claim that he was going to solve his troubles then? No, this wasn't a "trouble" – this was Little Leila, his only family.

"I can go find a doctor."

Lu Li's hand turned over and revealed a stack of gold coins.

Pelturas let out a long sigh.

A doctor wasn't difficult to find; you just needed to have the money. After forking out 20 gold, they managed to invite a man called Evena Stillwhisper. He was Astrana's best doctor and wouldn't see a poor person under normal circ.u.mstances.

Evena carefully diagnosed Little Leila and spoke verbosely about how she was malnourished.

Pelturas looked guilty.

"Alright, I've got some idea of the cause." After taking the money, he quickly concluded his examination. He pondered for a moment before saying, "I think this illness isn't purely physical. Has she been to an evil place recently? Or, Pelturas, have you brought back something contaminated with evil lately?"

Pelturas thought for a moment before he pulled out a sword from the bottom of the bed.

The long sword was rusty, but if it was repaired, it could be sold to the blacksmith for a few silver coins.

"Where did you pick that up?" asked Evena.

"Bathran's Haunted House. If there was ever an evil place, it would probably be there." Pelturas was disabled and couldn't fight; he had to do whatever he could to make money.

"d.a.m.ned Orcs and d.a.m.ned Bathran," Evenal cursed softly.

"Can Little Leila still be saved? Please, Mr. Evenal, you have to save her."

Upon hearing that he was likely the cause of her daughter's sickness, Pelturas almost looked suicidal.

"Adventurer," Evena said as he looked at Pelturas' stump and shook his head before turning to Lu Li, "I need help with something. Are you willing to help me?"

"Of course. I'm happy to do some work," Lu Li replied simply.

"If you take the road to the east, there is a plant that grows in the ancient ruins of the Bathran Haunted House. That plant is called Bathan's Hair and is known to cure the infamous Soul Disease. Can you get some for me?" Evena then went on to describe the appearance of the Bathran's Hair.

"Please wait a little while. I will be back soon."

Lu Li left and immediately transformed into a Crow before flying towards the Bathran Haunted House.

He wandered around the Haunted House for a while, unable to find the plant that Evena had described. He then landed on the ground in order to search more thoroughly; he couldn't afford to miss it.

At this time, a ghost appeared in front of him and pointed at his emblem before asking, "Young man, is this the blessing of the priestess?"

Lu Li put away the dagger that he had pulled out and calmed himself before saying, "Yes."

It was indeed a Haunted House – a ghost could emerge at every turn. These repeated appearances were actually quite scary, so there was actually no one farming in this level 20 area.

"How nostalgic. I used to have something like that."

Based on its silhouette, it was a strange looking being. It looked more like a big tree than anything else.

"That must be because you're a respectable elder, but why are you here now?" Lu Li tentatively asked.

"These creatures... the so called Horde... cut me down and cut off my hair to carry out their evil plan. Can you help me end it once and for all?"

Dammit. This must be the legendary Tree of Knowledge, old Treant Bathran.

Treants had always been the Night Elf's allies. They lived long lives, but spent most of it asleep and could only be awakened in special ways.

Bathran was unlucky; he had been cut down while he was still sleeping.

After he was killed, the orcs planted Bathran back into the ground. That is how the Bathran Haunted House came to grow Bathran's hair.

"I would be happy to do that. But before that, I would like to collect some of your hair. Please don't be angry and hear me out."

Lu Li comforted the old Treant ghost who was about to run away and then tried to explain why he wanted the hair.

"The Orcs had just finished harvesting the hair; no wonder you couldn't find it. Since it's to save someone, I will give you some now."

Bathran handed Lu Li a clump of fibrous material. This was Bathran' Hair.

"Thank you so much. What can I do to help you?" Lu Li asked as he put the item away.

This was the so-called chain quest. One would lead into the other and all of them had to be completed, otherwise, the chain would be broken. As to how long Little Leila could wait, these quests weren't bound by time. The system wasn't that boring.

"I hear that their Medicine Master was talking about some fire item across from here. If you can obtain a bottle of that evil item and throw it into my body, you can burn it down completely and my hair will no longer grow," Bathran said as he sighed deeply and melancholically continued, "I'm already dead, so this is a small price to pay to stop them."

Waking up to suddenly find that you were dead was quite an outlandish way to die.

Chapter 352: Deep Pit Camp

"Where is that bottle of Wildfire?" Lu Li asked.

"They have built a camp nearby in order to harvest my hair. If you follow the route of the Orcs, you will find the camp," the ghost said.

Lu Li asked a few more questions, but didn't gain any further useful information.

It appeared that he just had to try his luck. There were quite a few quests like this, where the exact location was unknown and you just had to work it out based on some clues.

Follow the route of the Orcs...

Lu Li looked around for any Undead Herbalists or Orc Supervisors, but was hard pressed to find anything that could help him.

Those characters were acting like regular mobs – they were not intelligent and were just following a fixed procedure. Each of them acted out the same thing over and over, and wouldn't wander out of a small, fixed range.

With no other options, Lu Li could only farm the mobs here while watching to see if there were any special monsters around.

About half an hour later, he stumbled upon a bunch of Bathran's Hair on the ground. He tried to collect it, but the System told him that had already had Bathran's Hair.

His eyes then lit up in realization. Since Bathran's Hair had appeared, a special orc would soon be here to harvest it.

His speculation was in fact correct. Soon, a dozen chain-mail-clad Orcs came to the Bathran Haunted House and collected the Bathran's Hair, then hastily retreated in the same direction.

Lu Li cautiously followed them.

He then saw very clearly that these were all level 30 Elite Orcs. The leader was most likely an even higher level.

Lu Li wasn't afraid of them; he could escape if he needed to. However, he was afraid that if he disturbed them, the temporary camp would disband and there would be no one left to lead him.

As such, he tried to keep himself hidden as best as he could.

He trailed the squad of Orcs for ten minutes before they arrived at the summit of a hill.

Then, they suddenly vanished.

Lu Li waited for a while, but there wasn't any more movement, so he quietly followed their footsteps.

It turned out that the summit of the hill had been excavated by the Orcs to form a huge pit. They had built their temporary camp in this pit.

Lu Li turned his head and speechlessly discovered that the Maestra's Post was close by. This group of Orcs had established a temporary camp right under the noses of the Sentinels.

If he went and reported to them...

Lu Li was drooling. He was going to report to them after he got the bottle of fire. Even if the reward was monetary, it would still be a handsome sum.

After he entered, he realized that this place was much more s.p.a.cious than he had imagined. These Orcs had hollowed out the entire hill. There was some moss growing on the walls and some glowing stones embedded in them, so it wasn't dark at all.

There were barracks, a kitchen, a warehouse and even an alchemy room...

Swarms of Orcs were patrolling about. It was a main base of operations; this place was no joke.

Lu Li watched the movements of his surroundings and slowly entered the alchemy room.

Wildfire – its name suggested that it was obviously a product of alchemy. Entering the Alchemy room was the right choice, but he didn't know what else he would find in there.

As a Thief, stealing things seemed to be a perfectly justifiable matter.

Of course, Lu Li didn't expect this shabby camp to contain any kind of heaven-defying treasures. He didn't ask for tens of thousands; just a few thousand gold coins would satisfy him.

As he opened the door to the alchemy room, he saw three busy alchemists inside. They were wearing ragged robes and their bony hands were continuously putting things into a big pot.

The liquid in the pot was highly viscous and there were all kinds of smells being produced as the liquid churned.

Lu Li almost retched at the stench.

No wonder there weren't many other Orcs in the area – they probably had to lose their sense of smell before they could properly work in this environment.

Lu Li went into Stealth before stepping in lightly.

Although these Undead couldn't smell anything, there was nothing wrong with their Perception. When facing these level 30 Elites, it was best that he gave them the respect they deserved.

The cabin was hot and humid, and the smell was drilling into his nostrils.

Lu Li bit the bullet and quickly started to look around the potions in search of the Wildfire.

The materials on the test bench were quite strange. Most of them were animal organs and poisonous plants. Lu Li didn't want any of these things.

After a while, he finally found the Wildfire on the bench.

Taking advantage of the Alchemists' turned heads, Lu Li grabbed the Wildfire. He then quickly used Shadowmeld to enter back into Stealth so he could leave the d.a.m.ned place.

After this, he paid a visit to the Orc's warehouse; there could be some valuable items inside.

However, his plans were quickly disrupted when the Wildfire that he was holding unexpectedly started to burn him. He almost called out loud in surprise and damage values began to appear over his head.

It was only three to five points, but this prevented Lu Li from using Stealth to escape.

He couldn't enter Stealth if he kept losing HP like this.

Lu Li almost started cursing out loud before he threw the Wildfire into this bag. However, the Alchemists had already noticed his presence.

Lu Li could probably deal with a single level 30 Elite, but there was more than one of them before him. He also didn't know how they communicated, but heavy footsteps were soon heard outside the door.

If he didn't leave now, he might not have any chances left.

Lu Li thought for a while and instead of attacking the undead Alchemists, he turned into a Leopard and rushed out.

Two Orcs burst into the room, but by the time they noticed him he had already ran away.

Whooosh...

There were javelins, dark arrows and Shadow Bolts being thrown at him, but he didn't dare to look back. He zipped left and right to avoid the projectiles, quickly running with his four legs.

However a humanoid figure was rapidly approaching him from behind!

Lu Li wished that he had eight legs because his four legs weren't fast enough.

He hadn't really considered how bloodthirsty these Orcs were, but knew that this group of level 30 Elites could easily tear him apart, so he didn't bother about the details.

This is just a quest; it should be easy!

The fire was in his backpack, but he was still taking damage so he couldn't go into Stealth.

The only way to escape was the get out of this pit. They wouldn't be so ferocious then, as the Night Elf Sentinels would never tolerate such a camp existing so close to an outpost.

Maestra's Post was just around the back.

There was a rumbling and a loud voice. Lu Li couldn't help but look back and almost peed himself.

It was a wolf!

A Wolf Rider!

The leopard gave him considerable speed, but it was nothing compared to that given by the wolf mount.

One, two, three... throw!

Lu Li threw a dark object behind him and continued to run.

A violent roar sounded throughout the camp, accompanied by a flash.

The Orcs and wolves were crying out; the scene had descended into chaos.

In reality, only a few of them had been hurt, but the sound was quite scary nonetheless.

Taking advantage of the chaos, Lu Li quickly ran and jumped out of the pit.

Chapter 353: Wolf Rider

Lu Li was heartbroken that he had to throw a bomb.

The drop rate of Starwood was already extremely low and he only carried three spares on him. That single throw was worth hundreds of gold coins.

Bathran, I've sacrificed so much to burn you down. You better repay me well for this. Otherwise, even if you manage to reincarnate, I'll cut you down and use you for firewood as payment.

When Lu Li got out, he immediately rushed straight to Maestra's Post.

Why didn't go to burn down Bathran? Because Bathran was already dead and couldn't run away, but the Orcs would immediately start running away.

They had been discovered, so naturally, they would be trying to escape.

"Lord, I have important news."

Lu Li returned to his Night Elf form as he approached Maestra's Post. He grabbed a human soldier's shoulder and panted as he explained the situation.

Maestra's Post was a place where Night Elves and Humans were working together to hold a defensive position. There were many humans stationed here.

"How is this possible?" The soldier simply couldn't believe it.

A Horde camp less than 1000 yards from here? What kind of joke was that? If Lu Li didn't look like an honest Night Elf, they would have shot him with an arrow already.

"It's true..."

Before Lu Li could explain any further, another soldier nearby cried out.

He was pointing into the distance towards a crowd of crazy Orcs!

The first three were Orcs equipped with Chain Mail and riding wolves. They were staring intently at Lu Li with their red eyes while he was standing in the Post. They didn't even slow down when they approached the Post, and rushed straight at them.

These lunatics had actually decided to chase him all the way here.

It was three Wolf Riders too!

These Wolf Riders were full members of the Steel Knights and were something that he couldn't deal with right now. On top of that, the Maestra's Post only had a few dozen human soldiers around.

"Where is Master Delgren?" Lu Li grabbed one of the soldiers as asked.

Delgren the Purifier was a Paladin who followed the command of the Silver Hand and had his own squire. He was supposed to be investigating a secret organization composed of Orcs and the Undead.

In other words, this was his domain.

"The Master has left for inspections today," the soldier cried out.

"Get ready to fight! Ready your defenses; I'll go get help!" Lu Li didn't care about the rewards. If this group of soldiers died, he wouldn't be able to receive any benefits at all.

These people were about to be killed because of him.

After hastily transforming into a Crow, he flew out of the Post in a flurry.

He didn't go looking for Delgren – who knew where he had to go to find that guy?

The nearest defense base was the Meisnera Post!

Since the previous battle with the Water Elementals, the Meinsera Post had stationed many more troops and would now have the ability to supply reinforcements.

"Your Excellency, the Maestra's Post has been attack by Orcs. There are three Wolf Riders there; please send reinforcements."

Lu Li didn't want to shock everyone, so he turned himself back.

While everyone was watching, a bird transformed into a person, causing the players nearby to exclaim in shock.

Could it be that this Druid has already learnt to fly? I still don't even have a mount; are we even playing the same game?

No one suspected that he was Lu Li, because Lu Li wouldn't have such a useless skill like this. He also had his face covered and was wearing leather armor like a Druid would.

The Meisnera's Post never lacked players.

In order to see Meisnera, countless perverted players camped here. They had even made this Post their home and were happy to endure sleeping on the ground every night.

In peak periods, there were perhaps hundreds of thousands of players lingering in the area.

"Wolf Riders?" Meisnera's expression suddenly turned serious.

She didn't question Lu Li. Meisnera was particularly sensitive to the Blessings of the Priestess and she had seen the Carolina's mark on him.

"There are also dozens of Orc Warriros and Undead Alchemists. The Maestra's Post will not hold for long," Lu Li quickly added.

Meisnera didn't hesitate to sound the battle horn as she climbed onto a white cheetah and rushed out. There were a dozen Night Elves riding panthers and a dozen Night Rangers who followed her through the woods.

"Defend Meisnera!" Lu Li shouted from within a group of players.

They players were shocked at first, but this phrase aroused their minds. They quickly roared in response to defend Meisnera and rushed to follow her as well.

As more players heard this familiar cry, they also joined in.

The 'Defend the Meisnera Outpost' event wasn't too long ago and many players who were here had partic.i.p.ated. As such, they were excited to get back into the action once again.

Hundreds of players began to follow her in a s...o...b..ll effect. Lu Li could now finally relax.

However, this was a.s.suming that the Soldiers of Maestra's Post could hold out until the reinforcements arrived. If Meisnera arrived at the destroyed Post, then everything would have been in vain.

Lu Li's Crow could fly quickly, so he got there before Meisnera.

Maestra's Post had not been destroyed by the Horde like Lu Li had imagined. The strength of Maestra's Post, Delgren, had appeared for battle in the nick of time.

The human Paladin was wearing heavy silver armor and was facing three enemies. He was covered in scratches but had not died yet.

"Master Paladin, reinforcements are coming!" Lu Li shouted before landing and running towards the Orc Wolf Riders.

His attacks weren't strong enough to deal much damage to the Wolf Rider, but they were enough to relieve some pressure from the Paladin while Meisnera was still arriving.

Just as he finished speaking, Meisnera and the reinforcements arrived on the battlefield.

However, a decisive defeat of the Orcs did not happen like Lu Li had expected.

The Orc Wolf Riders were bosses while the Sentinel's calvary were only high-level Elites. They weren't truly part of the Night Elf Sentinel Regiment; they were actually just auxiliary units.

Meisnera was also a boss, but her profession was a Priestess, so she didn't have much combat strength.

Even so, with this additional force, the balance began to tip in favor of the Alliance. The Orc Warriors and Undead were constantly being shot by the Night Rangers.

The last straw was when the players started cras.h.i.+ng into the fight.

When hundreds of players swarmed the battlefield, the three Wolf Riders were obviously unable to deal with them.

Take that System! What are you gonna do now!?

"Defend Meisnera! Long live the G.o.ddess!" the perverts howled as players as they charged. Even if a level 30 Sargeras was standing there, it wouldn't have been able to stand up to these perverts.

The Wolf Riders weren't afraid of these weak players individually, but you couldn't forget the strong Paladin Delgren, Meisnera the Priestess and the dozen level 30 Elites that she was leading.

Chapter 354: Killing The Wolf Riders

The Wolf Riders, who had been critically wounded by the Paladin, turned away and started running.

The Orcs would rather live than die and this made perfect sense, especially for an intelligent NPC who was a Boss.

"Master, shame must be cleansed with blood. We cannot let them escape."

Lu Li was anxious. These were three level 30 Bosses – if they didn't at least kill one of them, he would have just wasted the day.

As soon as the word 'shame' was mentioned, the Paladin's eyes turned red.

These dirty Orcs - they actually built a camp in his area. This masked Elf is right; blood has to be shed today. The blood of death to repay the shame!

"Attack!"

Delgren roared and charged his horse ahead. The spear in his hand pierced the wolf's head and flung the Orc off its back.

The other two Wolf Riders didn't stop for their fallen companion; they continued fleeing without looking back.

The Wolf Rider who was knocked-down knew he couldn't get away, so he gave up his intention to flee. Instead, he put on a ferocious look and desperately roared as he raised his hand to attack.

Although the Wolf Rider had lost its wolf, it was still a Boss and it fought with even greater ferocity now that it didn't have a means of escape.

"Attack the Boss!" The players weren't afraid, in fact, they were further invigorated.

Lu Li was also very excited because he had already dealt a lot of the damage to the Boss. As such, once it was killed, he was likely to be the one with the authority to take the equipment.

Normally, a level 30 Wild Boss would have resulted in a lot of bloodshed.

However, with the NPCs' help, it was significantly easier.

As the Orc Calvary also crashed into them, the players in front of him were knocked away and took significant damage.

However, Lu Li wanted the equipment, so he couldn't falter now. If anyone dealt more damage to the Boss than he did, then he would lose the authority to claim the equipment.

Fortunately, NPC Paladin Delgren was there and his spear racked-up Orc-kills.

The two Bosses were eventually engaged in an even battle, while the other players were basically just fodder. Every now and then, players would be knocked aside, and some would even be killed in mid-air.

Lu Li thought that this Wolf Rider was a character that had slowly upgraded to Boss status and as such, would be weaker than the Instance Dungeon Bosses. However, he now had to admit how wrong he was.

Often, intelligence was a very powerful thing to have.

Compared to an Instance Dungeon Boss, this Wolf Rider had survived with its high intelligence.

There were no rules to the Wolf Rider's method of fighting, and no strategy to deal with it. No one ever wrote about how these NPC soldiers could be effectively dealt with either.

The normal taunt skills were absolutely futile against it, and it didn't cast its skills in a predictable manner like an Instance Dungeon Boss would.

In less than half a minute, a dozen players were killed. It would then follow this up by killing one player every minute.

It could dodge, move and cast skills whenever it felt like it. Lu Li was once almost hit by one of its strong attacks, but he just managed to cast Gale Steps just in time.

Paladin Delgren, who was already seriously injured, received a few more additional wounds. If it weren't for Meisnera providing support from behind, Lu Li questioned whether he could have defeated this Wolf Rider alone.

One side was fighting for duty and honor, but the other side was fighting for their life.

The Wolf Rider soon came to the end of its life, but its fighting was heroic and fearless in the face of two other Bosses.

As it was pierced by Delgren's spear, the last of his HP dwindled away.

Lu Li then received a prompt from the System that he had gained EXP. It wasn't that much, as Paladin Delgren was the primary source of damage and the players were just barely supporting him.

Was he going to get the equipment?

The rules for equipment to drop in Dawn depended on the environment and the circ.u.mstance. It was different for every case.

In the current situation, if a player or a party had dealt the most damage and had reached a certain threshold, they would have priority in picking it up. If the threshold wasn't reached, the equipment would explode in random directions and would be free for anyone to pick up.

Fortunately, it didn't just explode into different directions, which indicated that someone had met the minimum damage threshold.

"Why can't I pick it up?" someone said loudly.

The moment this person cried out, everyone rushed towards him.

No one could the resist the item that a level 30 Boss could have dropped. Meisnera was a little confused because no one was paying any attention to her, but the others could look at her any time they wanted.

Lu Li placed his hand over the Wolf Rider and prayed for a second before looting it.

He was actually quite anxious and worried that the System might tell him that he didn't have the authority to loot it.

Fortunately, that didn't happen. Something appeared in his hand and Lu Li quickly shoved it into his bag as he continued looting...

He first grabbed two small items, before getting a skill book and a large, two-handed axe.

The first two items were quite inconspicuous, but when a giant axe appeared in Lu Li's hands, everyone knew that he was the one taking all the items.

"Hand the items over and we'll spare your life," someone said ominously.

"Everyone contributed, you can't just take it all," another interjected. However, if they had traded places, you would never hear a sentence like that from them.

"If you offend so many of us, do you think you'll be able to continue playing this game?"

Lu Li began to sweat.

Gale Steps was on cooldown; he had just used it in the fight.

What about his shoe's effect? There were hundreds of players surrounding him; there was nowhere for him to go.

Looking left and right, he couldn't find a way to safely fight his way out.

The game still had to be balanced – you couldn't fight hundreds of players at once no matter how strong you were. Everyone only had to cast one normal skill to instantly kill him.

"Thank you all for your help; you can claim your rewards from Meisnera. I will need some time alone with this Thief."

Paladin Delgren was sitting on his horse watching over them. Just as the crowd was about to attack him, he suddenly spoke up.

Dammit, who do you think you are? If it weren't for us, you would have already died to the Wolf Rider. The players almost laughed out loud, but they kept that thought to themselves and refused to listen to his order.

These players felt like they were the reason that the Orcs had retreated. However, in reality, if it weren't for the role that Delgren and Meisnera had played, there would have been a continuous swarm of reinforcements.

The players weren't really paying any attention.

"Attack!" Delgren suddenly raised his spear and thrust it out with force.

This wasn't a regular thrust – this was the move he had performed when he defeated the Wolf Rider. However, this time, the thrust was directed at the players.

A dozen players instantly died.

Chapter 355: Turned On By the NPC

The surprise was indescribable. An NPC had just turned on them and killed a dozen players.

The hundreds of players were shocked.

First, they were stunned in disbelief before they started to become angry.

However, this anger faded as quickly as it came. The players saw the soldiers nearby raise their weapons and they also received a notification from the System.

System: Your behavior may be interpreted as a provocation against the Silver Hand. Please act carefully.

System: Your behavior may be interpreted as a provocation against the Sentinel Corps. Please act carefully.

Although the Silver Hand had already disbanded, they still had a far-reaching influence. In addition to the Brotherhood of Light, the Scarlet Crusade and Silver Dawn, there were still a high number of high-level Paladins who would rally under the name of the Silver Hand.

As for the Sentinel Corps, that was even funnier.

If they offended the Sentinel Corps, wouldn't they be offending all the Night Elves?

There were mechanisms in Dawn to change factions, but so far, no one has ever succeeded in doing so.

After the players calmed down, they became scared. Although they outnumbered the soldiers ten to one, they slowly backed away from them.

It seemed like this NPC was actually protecting this Thief. Who knew what he had done to get so lucky?

"Brave adventurer, I would like to thank you," Paladin Delgren said as he climbed onto his horse. "If it weren't for you, I probably wouldn't have known about the hidden group of Orcs."

His tone was low and calm. He even gave Lu Li a salute at the end of his sentence.

"It was I who alerted the enemy. Otherwise, we would have had a better chance at destroying them,"

Lu Li looked at the battlefield and saw the corpses being packed away into body bags.

Maestra's Post wasn't annihilated, but there were still over a dozen dead soldiers.

"I am also grateful that you called in reinforcements for us. Otherwise, we would have lost more than these." Delgren looked sadly at the corpses that were being carried out while gripping the reins in his hands.

He was a Paladin, a Silver Hand Paladin. As such, he was very conservative and rather tenacious.

However, he still had feelings and he was upset about his squire.

The dozen players that he had killed might have just been him venting about it.

Lu Li gave the fallen soldiers a moment of silence before painfully saying, "They were all warriors and they're not on the way home. May the light protect them forever."

"Yes, may the light protect them," Delgren nodded. "You are a brave adventurer and I hope that the light will guide your way as well."

The System prompted Lu Li to tell him that he had gained 100 prestige points for Stormwind.

In reality, 100 points for Stormwind wasn't that much. When Lu Li was freeing the prisoners from Blackfathom, he had already gained a significant amount of points.

However, he didn't dare to complain; this Paladin had saved his life as well.

Moreover, he couldn't afford to offend this Paladin either.

There were many things that had happened in the background, and any action he took could influence future events.

Dawn had spent a lot of time on their NPCs, creating many different scenarios and pathways.

To put it simply, it was unwise to attack an NPC who was in the same Faction. Otherwise, you would need to do something for them to regain their favor. When Lu Li had attacked the Goblin Businessman, he gained the hatred of all goblins, but he could later settle their differences with some gold.

Of course, once you joined a particular group, there were less limitations.

For example, Lu Li really wanted to join Ravenholdt's Manor. That was a Thief's Paradise because they weren't on any side and would a.s.sa.s.sinate anyone for gold.

After he left the crowd, Lu Li went into Stealth and snuck away.

The players had not managed to find out what his name was, so they could only curse at the fact that they couldn't seek out revenge.

Just because the Paladin hadn't given him a reward, didn't mean that he had returned empty handed. He had just claimed all the rewards of a level 30 Wild Boss.

The first thing that he pulled out was the dual-handed Axe.

It was a Gold Equipment!

Axe of the Legion (Gold): Damage 40-58, Strength 20, Agility 12, 1 Slot, Special Effect 1: 15% Critical Hit, Special Effect 2: Hits have a 30% chance of causing Armor Pierce. Special Effect 3: Wrath of the Legion, all teammates within 8 yards will received a 20% increase in attack power for 15 seconds. 5 minute cooldown. Equipment Requirement: Level 30. Durability 64/64.

What an exquisite axe this was indeed!

Lu Li stroked the axe, wis.h.i.+ng that he was a Warrior.

In addition to this, there was also that level 30 Gold Dagger in his bag.

This must have been the standard equipment for the Orc Steel Corps. Its last effect had a particularly effective battle effect that made this a truly exquisite axe.

It even had a slot which only appeared on rare equipment. This slot could be embedded with a gem to increase its attributes.

There was also a Skill Book, "Apprentice Riding Training Manual".

With this item, you could accept training from a Riding Teacher. After you learned how to ride and acquired a horse, you would be able to do away with all the problems that came with walking.

Strength Elixir: A player's attack power is increased by 20% for 1 hour when used. This effect will persist through death.

So the small item he had grabbed was an Elixir. Lu Li knew what this was, but most players right now probably wouldn't recognize it. It would be useful in attempting future First Clears of Instance Dungeons. The 20% attack power buff wasn't much, but it lasted an entire hour. No wonder the Wolf Rider had fought so ferociously – it must have taken one of these.

The last thing he had looted was a ring.

Lu Li's heart skipped a beat; he was still lacking a good ring.

Legionnaire's Band (Silver): Damage 16-24, Strength 12, Agility 8, Special Effect: the target of skills have a certain probability of being silenced for 1.5 seconds. Equipment Requirement: level 25. Durability 48/48.

He was going to keep this ring for himself. Although its attributes could not be compared to the Axe of the Legion, it was much better than the Sharp Tooth Ring he was wearing.

The Special effect was actually quite good. It was inferior to the Kick skill, but if he was lucky, he would be able to reap some unexpected rewards. However, it was all dependent on his luck. This was another piece of equipment that he just had to hope would trigger.

Lu Li was very satisfied with these rewards. He put the ring on and stored the elixir away. It was a consumable, so he was going to save it for another time. He wasn't going to use the skill book for now because he didn't have a good-enough mount just yet. He could fly faster than most mounts anyway.

As for the Axe of the Legion, this was the most valuable item.

Lu Li hesitated for three seconds before deciding to give it to Moonlight for free. Talk of money soured relations.h.i.+ps and they were friends that had been through thick and thin.

Even if he could sell this axe for $100,000, Moonlight could probably earn more after a few compet.i.tions. Moreover, Lu Li didn't really need money with such urgency anymore and couldn't be bothered selling one item for the small sum of money it would yield anyway. He just wanted his club to continue to grow and prosper.

He hoped that Bathran would give him something good, otherwise, this quest wouldn't have been worth it at all.
