Chapter 6

Days went by so fast and it's Valentine's Day. Same old routine. I don't want to talk about my parents.

I canceled my application kasi ayokong dagdagan nang stress si Ate. Mag-aalala lang siya sa akin kapag sinubokan kong magwork. I mean, na try ko nga kasi last time pero nagagalit siya. At ayokong magalit siya ulit.

Sinasabi ko sa sarili ko na awat muna sa self study sa library kasi iyon din ang sinasabi ni Paolla sa akin ngayon.

"Oh my god ka girl! Pati sa araw ng kapusuan ay mag-aaral ka pa din?" She asked in exhaustion. I laughed with her reaction matapos kong magbukas ng libro sa gitna ng Food court.

Paolla's bag is so full of Roses and bouquets. Ang dami niyang admirers which actually suits her kasi ang ganda niya. Pakiramdam ko ay may halo yung dugo niya nang foreign. I kept my thoughts to myself. Kasi sa pagkakakilala ko ni Pao in these past few weeks ay uhaw siya sa compliment.

Pao closed my book.

"Please do me a favor and not make me see you studying just for today. Wala namang class!" She said. Ang cheerful niya at excited sa whole Valentines thing.

"Which is exactly the reason why I have to study kasi mas maraming time." Sabi ko and opened the book again.

"You crazy little beeyatch. You gotta have fun. Alam mo kahit hindi mo na sabihin kung anong love life story mo ay alam na alam ko na yung story. Empty. Wala. Nadah!" Sabi niya. Ang daldal niya talaga. Minsan na-appreciate ko naman pero minsan kailangan niya din siguro ilagay sa lugar. Ewan ko kay Pao. Pero I still find her adorable.

"And besides! May results na kaya kung sino partner mo sa Valentines!" Sabi niya.

I laughed kasi sa naalala ko ay iniwan kong blangko ang Form ko nun. Which is invalid na diba? Sooo, wala akong ma-partner. Ayos. No time to waste for a... date.

"Speaking of— I gotta go." Sabi niya.

"Where?" I asked habang hinanap yung page na iniwan ko sa pagbabasa.

She smiled and winked at me, "I got a date, Maris. Dapat may chika ka sa akin mamaya, ha." At umalis na siya ng tuloyan.

I sighed.

Ayoko talagang masanay sa mga bagay bagay. Kasi hahanap hanapin ko.

Na-miss ko kaagad ang ingay ni Paolla. Since maingay din naman ang mind ko, i-kalma ko nalang through reading.

Nagbabasa na ako now.

Pero rinig na rinig ko pa din ang mga background music sa mga couples na nasa paligid ko. Surround sound whole school version.

Gusto ko lang naman mag-aral.

I closed my book.

Okay then, ano ba magagawa ko sa Valentines Day?

Nagtingin-tingin ako sa paligid at na-identify ko na kaagad kung saan ako na belong sa mga klase ng mga tao sa araw ng Pag-ibig.

Una, Mag-isa lang. Either walag choice or walang pake or bitter.

Pangalawa, third wheel.

Pangatlo, nagpapansin sa mga gusto nila.

Last, may jowa.

Hindi naman ako bitter. Pero hindi ko talaga ramdam ang Valentines Day. Palagi naman.

"Good day, Miss Maris!"

Napatingin ako sa babaeng lumapit sa akin. Alam kong SSC officer siya.

"Hi?" I replied.

"Uhm, we saw you here and we figured to initiate with couples who haven't met each other yet." Sabi niya.

Napakunot ang noo ko.

"What?" I asked.

She smiled. "You are paired with Mr. Zadist Cruspero."

Who's he?

Pero I didn't sign the forms. I left it blank. For the sake na may ipapasa ako kasi mandatory, nilagyan ko nalang ng name ko. And I cant tell an officer na intentional kong iniwang blangko ang paper. So, how to fix this?

"Wait— I think this is a mistake," I stated.

The officer cuts me off.

Parang alam na alam na niya kung anong iniisip ko.

"Yes, Ma'am it turns out both of you have left empty answers on your forms. Nothing else on this campus but just you and Mr. Cruspero. He'll be here with you after this. Enjoy Valentines'!" The officer said and left.

My jaw dropped.

You've got to be kidding me.
