Regulus and Sirius' christmas
one to remember.

𝓢irius and Regulus' christmas was no different to any other they had experienced. Their parents showered them with gifts, inviting their cousins round and showing off the large tapestry which sat in the dining room.

Sirius had always hated the tapestry, he hated his name being permanently engraved in something he wanted no part in. Regulus didn't like it either, he would always manage to slip out before their parents lit the candles and honoured the family.

His parents knew nothing about him or his brother, their favourite colours of what they're both most afraid of.

It was christmas eve, the brothers putting on their finest suits and drinking a bottle of their parents most expensive wine. The dinner table always had to be kept professional, no slouch in posture or elbows on the table.

"Regulus go and fetch me that stupid elf, he needs to be taught a lesson- the steak is over cooked" The boy stilled at his mother's words, knowing she would do something as drastic as placing a hot iron on his friends hands.

"The steak is perfectly fine, I like it" He spoke back, his mother stunned at his tone and quick defence for the elf. "I didn't ask you whether you liked it or not, I told you to go and get it!" His mother yelled, slamming the bottom of her steak knife against the table.

"I'm not letting you hurt him, he's my friend" Regulus cried out, tears escaping the young boys eyes in attempts to protect him. His mother pulled out her wand, pointing it at the boy.

"I thought I had raised you to be the smart one, the obedient one" She shouted, Sirius jumping infront of the boy, shielding him with himself. "You won't hurt my brother" The older brother said, Regulus crouching down behind his brother in attempt to protect himself.

"What have I raised- you are no family of mine" And with that, Mrs Black waved her wand, pointing it at her sons. "sectumsempera"

Sirius fell towards the ground, struggling to breath as thousands of cuts appeared on his body, seeping through his white collard shirt. "What have you done!" Regulus cried, screaming towards his mother who raised the wand at the boy.

"Now go and fetch the elf" She spoke, each word cutting deeper into the boy as he looked back at his brother. "Please help him mother, he's bleeding" He cried, trying to stop the bleeding but it was no use.

"Bring me it and I will" Regulus rushed to his feet, running up the stairs to find Kreacher. He explained everything to him, the elf holding tightly onto his hand, "Don't worry about me boy, just help your brother" He said, nodding towards Regulus before vanishing, soon to appear next to the woman.

By the time Regulus had gotten back downstairs Sirius was no longer bleeding, however he was unable to move properly. "This..Is all your fault" Sirius spat, forcing each word out as though it was poison.

"I'm so sorry brother, i'm so sorry" Regulus cried, his tears falling against his older brothers shirt. "You're no man" Sirius spoke, finally getting up and wincing with every step he took. "And you're no brother of mine"

Regulus fell down against the floor, listening to the screams of Kreacher as his mother held down irons on each of his hands. The young boy brought his hands up to his ears, rocking himself backwards and forwards as he cried.

Time passed, and he found himself unable to sleep, reminiscing in the events of his eleventh christmas, and so he checked his clock, the time being around 12am. He carefully opened his bedroom window, sliding down the side of his roof and landing on his back garden. It was dark outside and snow had settled almost everywhere, there was no green in sight.

Regulus ran, he continued to run and didn't stop until he reached Elora Emmersons house. The boy picked up a stone, throwing it at her window.

After a few stones the girl finally pulled open her curtains and opened the window. "Please...Can I come up" He begged, the girl turning on her candle and helping him up.

He was freezing, his tears had stained his face and his hands were blue. "Come here" The girl whispered, grabbing her blanket and wrapping him in it. She sat him down on the bed, opening up her arms and letting him crawl into her. His head on her chest and her arms around him.

He couldn't stop his tears from falling, he told her everything, about what his mother had done and what Sirius had said. "I will never hurt you like that Regulus, I promise" She said, and she meant it. And yet now all these years later, she had gone against that promise, Elora's affection towards Tom, the kiss, It was the worst pain the boy had ever had to endure in his life.

She had hurt him far more than his mother ever did.

"It will be alright" Elora whispered, laying down at his side and taking his tiny hand into hers. The boy felt so safe with her, despite being taller than her, and broader than her, she was his home and he was hers, his safe place.

The slytherin climbed onto the train to leave hogwarts and return to the place he hated the most. His heart ached and his head hurt, he wished he could die, instead of dealing with the truth. The betrayal of the girl he loved more than life itself.

The brown haired boy didn't sit with the marauders, or the Slytherins. He walked until he found an empty carriage, placing his trunk against the floor and pulling his knees up to his chest.

Outside was gloomy, the darkness settling against the glossy window, the rain falling hard against true train tracks as the wind hummed slightly in its absence. It was supposed to be summer although it could've been winter, every time he breathed out caused a gust of his breath to show before him.

For a split moment he worried maybe this was his fall, there would be no coming back from it this time.

But then there she was, her blonde hair and her blue orbs, her fair skin and small waist. She stood there, in the middle of the doorway and in that moment, the sun breaking through the clouds to fall against her.

In that split moment he knew, that he was completely and utterly in love with her.
