Annabeth POV

Groggy, I woke up to the baby screaming. I rolled over halfheartedly and looked at my alarm clock next to me. It read 3:13. I groaned as I got out of bed and walked through the closet door that lead to the baby's room.

I walked over to the crib and picked Charlie up. He was still small and light, only five months old now. I rocked him back and forth, brushing his blonde hair back from where it was plastered on his forehead. He gradually stopped crying as I rocked him. I stumbled, still exhausted, out of his room and down the stairs; into the huge kitchen.

It had marble tile and all stainless steel appliances. There was a big window that looked out on the city. It was beautiful at this time of night, with all the lights shining like a hundred stars.

I went to a cabinet and got out Charlie's baby formula and one of his bottles. I filled it up with warm water, then mixed in the powder. As I screwed on the cap I looked out at the dark city, marveling at how quiet it was up here. When I lived here with my dad we'd heard car noises and people all night.

As I started to feed Charlie it dawned on me that today was the first day of collage. I looked into his grey eyes and asked "Want to help mommy get ready Charlie?" Of course he just gurgled. Still feeding him, I walked up the stairs and turned the corner to my room. It's grey walls reflected on the neatness. There was a large bed on the far left wall, near the door was a large desk. On the floor next to the bed was a carefully picked out outfit. It was a simple grey shirt with a pair of shorts. I put Charlie in a bouncy chair that hung on the closet doorway. I put on my outfit and put my hair into a messy ponytail.

My first class was English, one of the required subjects, and it started at 9. English had always been my worst and least favorite subject, dyslexia is hard to get past even for me.

I returned Charlie to his crib and mercifully, he went back to sleep. I was already awake and dressed, so I went back to the kitchen, made coffee and watched the city shimmer below me.

A couple hours later

I rubbed my head in frustration, trying to get the words on the page to stop swimming before my eyes. luckily, the teacher choose that moment to interrupt the class. "Books away please! Now I'm going to split you all into pairs, this person will be your partner for the remainder of this project, and we may use these pairs in other projects as well. Today I would like you to discuss the relationship between Bella and Edward. [{[AN: they're doing Twilight because I ( 1crazyfangirl ) have read it and I totally want to hear Annabeth hate on it lol]}] "Now, your pairs are . . . "

I crossed my fingers. "Please Please Please Hazel or Piper!" The teacher continued, "Perseus Jackson." - A dark haired guy turned his head at the name. "You will be with Annabeth Chase." The teacher went on, but I wasn't really listening anymore. I was studying the guy I'd been paired up with. He was very attractive, with sea green eyes and messy black hair that made my fingers twitch; the kind of hair that was just begging to be fixed. He was tall, taller then me definitely. He was also staring right back at me. I raised an eyebrow, but didn't look away. He grinned at me and waved. I half smiled and waved casually back.

I didn't even notice when the teacher released us, I only stood up from my desk when I saw other people getting up and going to their partners. I stretched and picked up my stuff, then walked over to the dark haired guy. I sat at the desk next to him and held out a hand. "Annabeth Chase." He shook my hand. "Perseus Jackson, but please just call me Percy"

"Alright Percy, what do you think?" I inquired.

"I think there is a butterfly outside ." He grinned again and pointed out the window.
