I was leaning on the side of my motorcycle. I am here now in the parking lot of the hospital. I have a follow up check up today.

I know she's aware that I'm coming. I send her a message to accompany me. But she didn't reply.

"I guess --- she's busy." I just said and let's get organized to get inside. I'll just pass it at the nurse station. He's not off now so I'm sure he's just there.

I walked into the hospital.
But even before I could enter, my cellphone suddenly rang. Only two people call me. It's either Mom Jackie or Keanne. They are the only ones who know my number here in the Philippines.

I immediately took out my phone and looked at the caller.

May brow arched in confusement. Hindi tatawag si Nanay Jackie kapag wala ito sasabihing importante. It must be that important. Akala ko nga si Keanne lang.

I answer the phone call.

"Nanay?" Nagtatanong kong sagot sa tawag nito.

"Kumusta ka na diyan? Namimiss na kita, guwapo kong anak. Ang tagal mo ng nawawala dito."

Napangiti ako sa tinuran niya. She's as sweet as she is from the start. Nanay Jackie raised me as if I am hers. That's why she's really important to me.

"Of course, i'm okay, Nanay. Mi manchi. Come sta la mamma?"
(I miss you. How's mom?"

Thinking of mom makes me want to go home but I can't for now. I'm sorry mom. Huwag muna sa ngayon. Magulo pa ang isip ko ngayon at hindi ko alam kung ano ang gagawin ko.

"Sei via da un mese ormai, Aiden. Cosa pensi? Tua madre sta bene? "
(You're away for a month now, Aiden. Sa tingin mo? Ayos lang ang mom mo?)

I sighed, I know it's hard for Mom. Ayaw niya kaaing nalalayo kaming anak niya ng ganito katagal. At lalo na ngayon na alam nitong may hindi kami pagkakaintindihan ni Dad.

"Sai che non posso tornare indietro, mamma."
(You know I can't go back, Nanay.) Umiiling kong sagot dito. Kahit gugustuhin ko mang bumalik ay hindi ko pa kaya.

"Lo so, Aiden. Ma --- mandale un messaggio che stai bene lì dentro."
(Alam ko, Aiden. But---send her a message that you are okay in there.)

"Nanay,--" she cut me off.

"Don't Nanay, nanay me ka diyan. Kinunsinti kita sa plano mong umalis at ako pa ang nagsabi sa'yo kung saan ka pupunta but listen to nanay for now. You need to send her a mesagge para mapanatag siya. She's been in a bad shape for a week at makakabuti sa kanya ang makatanggap ng balita  mula sa 'yo, Aiden. Do it for your Mom."
