Su Fu'an breathed a sigh of relief. Then he asked the Dalang, "What about you Dalang?"

She hated that she had spent her private money but still hadn't achieved her goal.

Madam Wu gritted her teeth as she looked at Su Tang and her brother. She turned away and happened to see Chen Xiuxiu, one of her friends in the village, winking at her. She glanced at her parents-in-law and her silent husband before carefully walking over.

Chen Xiuxiu whispered something in Madam Wu's ear after she came over. After hearing it, Madam Wu restrained herself from showing a look of joy, thanked Chen Xiuxiu, then walked over to Madam Zhao and whispered in her ear.

There were a lot of people in Su Yongqiang's courtyard and it was very lively, many people had come to see the two siblings who came back even after being sacrificed to the River God. And although Madam Wu was very careful, her every move was seen by Su Tang.

He had sent someone to invite Su Yonggui's family here just now when he heard that the children had come back. But his messenger told him that Su Yonggui's family had been busy planning to have a good meal to celebrate the third son's recovery. There was no sadness at all about the loss of their own grandchildren.

tl note: Again the '命硬' shows up. I'm just going to continue translating it as 'adverse fate' but keep in mind that the term actually has a few meanings. First, it means that it's a person who faces and overcomes a lot of adversity, which means that they will face a lot of suffering in their life and that they will have high pride but also (maybe) loneliness. And also the meaning of being a 'bad omen' for all their family members.
