Chapter 7:
Kristy got home and smiled happily after she leaned against the door.

Nick: *noticed her entrance* you look happy
Kristy: I'm wonderful, I'm over the moon! Nothing could ruined my mood
Nick: would love to talk to you about it, but I'm on strike *sips smoothie*
Kristy: what strike? Why???
Nick: you guys never appreciate the stuff I do for you, so I'm gonna on strike to teach you guys a lesson
Kristy: Who's gonna do work around here?
Nick: you guys are, it's not my job to clean after this family. I'm not your maid
Kristy: but I like the way you make my bed and add a mint like they do at hotels
Nick: sorry Kristy, but I treat you girls like royalty too much, time for me to take care of myself
Kristy: *whines* JOEY!
Joe: *comes in* yeah Kristy?
Kristy: Whatever you and Nick are fighting about, bring him back!
Joe: I tried to, but he said unless things change around here, he won't be coming back.
Kristy: This is just great, I was in a perfectly good mood, now I found out that Nick is not gonna do anything in this house and Joe's in charge
Nick: that's right
Joe: wait, why were you in a good mood?
Kristy: your assignment helped me a lot, Noah and I did really well on the assignment. I think that we connected
Joe: *cross arm* what do you mean, connected? What are you talking about? How did you connect?

Kristy: We talked about stuff that was important to us--too important to text.

Nick smiled at Kristy.

Kristy: Did you know that when you listen to someone, they'll tell you stuff?
Joe: oh, boy... *puts hand on hip*
Kristy: friends talk to each other, but real friends listen. I found out the truth about Claudia's family, she finally opened up to me. And I know how to be a real friend. You're a good teacher, Joey. You can keep my phone as long as you want. *hugs him and walks to her room*
Joe: *surprised*
Nick: congrats Joe
Joe: What did I do?

Nick: you just taught your little sister how to feel.

Joe: I did that?
Nick: you did.
Joe: I didn't mean to do that.
Nick: well, you did.
Joe: She has feelings now?
Nick: yup
Joe: How many?
Nick: all of them
Joe: Well put them back!
Nick: I can't do that, remember, I'm on strike... *sips smoothie*
Joe: *thinks* I have away
Nick: there's no way
Joe: I have a way

Back in school the next day.

Joe hands everyone their phones back in school.

Joe: here you go-- take your phone. Take it now. Very good. Here's your phone. Good, Great, nobody talks to nobody. No more feelings. Thank You. Okay, guys, the great technology debate. LET'S BOOT IT UP!

Claudia, Kristy, Elijah and Noah got up and stood in front of the class.

Elijah: I have always believed technology would help us-- fulfil our potential as a species. And When Elijah does rule the world, no matter what devices we come up with, we should also never forget what we can do with a pencil, a piece of paper and our imaginations.

Elijah took out a piece of paper that Claudia drew a picture of.

Elijah: I've been keeping this in my pocket where my phone used to be. I keep looking at it. I'm fine.
Claudia: *smiles at him* thanks Elijah
Elijah: look in my eyes
Claudia: NO!
Kristy: I thought my whole life was on my phone, but it turns out that I don't really have any friends in here. And you don't need your phone to connect with your real friends.

Joe smiled at Kristy feeling proud of her.

Noah: allow us to demonstrate.

They both turned to each other and Kristy said.

Kristy: hi.
Noah: hi.
Claudia: not this again, I thought we were past that

The whole class laughed at that, and Claudia joined and Joe said.
