Chapter 21: Mono

Kristy's POV
We just got word on the announcement from the nurse that mono was being spread around in school, and they ask us to be careful.

After Joe's class, he called me over and said to me.

Joe: *feels forehead* have you been kissing anybody?
Kristu: what?! No?!
Joe: you and Noah?
Kristy: where just friends Joe
Joe: sure...
Kristy: is this because of the whole mono thing
Joe: just checking to make sure you haven't been kissing any boys
Kristy: what about you, have you been kissing any professor lately, Professor Joseph

Joe gave me a look and said.

Joe: get to class

I knew what that meant, I pissed him off, I huffed and smirked as I walked the door and met up with my friends.

I noticed Claudia wasn't feeling well and I said to her.

Kristy: are you okay Claudia
Claudia: I'm fine
Mary-Anne: *gasp* you didn't
Claudia: what are you talking about *cough*?
Stacey: stay away from me! *covers mouth and backs away* I can't get sick, I'm diabetic, for you guys it takes a couple of days to recover but for a diabetic it takes weeks because of our low immune symptoms
Kristy: I know Stacey, we have a diabetic in the family. When one of us is sick Joe normally takes care of us instead of Nick.
Claudia: *cough* I'm not sick
Mary-Anne: she has mono
Kristy/Stacey: what?!
Stacey: girl... who have you been kissing?
Claudia: *lies* nobody!
Kristy: you're totally lying! I can't believe you never told me
Claudia: it's not big deal
Kristy: it's a very big deal, if your dads' find out they're are going kick your ass
Claudia: which is why I can't go home
Mary-Anne: you have too, all the students that have mono were sent to the nurse office so they don't give it to others
Claudia: you don't understand, if my dads' find out I've been kissing around some boy instead of focusing on my study, they will put me in an all girl school
Kristy: nothing wrong with that, my sisters goes their
Claudia: but we won't be able to attend the same classes
Stacey: Why are your dads' so strict?
Claudia: maybe because of all the trouble I have caused the past year
Kristy: maybe you should stop getting in trouble then
Claudia: Do you not know me by now?
Kristy: serious Claudia, I'm worried about you
Claudia: I'm fine, don't worry about me
Kristy: maybe I can-
Claudia: no, stop interfering, this is between me and my dads'
Kristy: *sighs* okay

After School.
Even tho Claudia told me not to interfere between her and her fathers, I still went after school to talk to them.

I went to Claudia's house and knocked on her door, and her big sister opened.

Kristy: uh... is your dads' home, I would like to speak with them
???: Yeah, they're in the kitchen waiting for Claudia to come home, have you seen her?
Kristy: nope I have not, bye *walk past her into the kitchen*
Mr. Kishi (1): Kristy, what's brings ging you here, is Claudia with you?
Kristy: that's what I came to talk to you about, and no she isn't. Before you ask, I have no clue where she is
Mr. Kishi: (1) have a seat
Kristy: I'm worried about Claudia, there's some things she isn't tell me, and she always comes to me
Mr. Kishi: (2) she always comes to me as well, I'm very worried about her, are you sure you can't think of anything that's bothering her?
Kristy: well... don't tell her I told you this... but she has mono
Both Mr. Kishi: what?!
Mr. Kishi (1) has she been talking to a boy in school!
Kristy: that's the problem, I don't know and she hasn't told me. I think something is wrong
Mr. Kishi (1): alright will have a talk with her about it
Kristy: no! She's not supposed to know I told you, She told me to stay out of this. Just wait for her to tell you
Mr. Kishi (2): that could take days
Kristy: I know, but please don't talk to her just yet
Mr. Kishi (1): (sighs) alright
???: dads! I'm home
Kristy: she's home already, I have to get out of here
Mr. Kishi (2): you can leave through the back door
Kristy: thanks Mr. Kishi *hurries out the door, and hides*
Claudia: *comes in* hey dads' sorry I'm late
Mr. Kishi (1): Claudia, have a seat
Claudia: Claire did it
Mr. Kishi (1): I didn't say anything
Claudia: sorry worth the habit, what's up
Mr. Kishi (2): is everything okay with you, you have been distance with us lately
Claudia: What do you mean?
Mr. Kishi (1): Well you have been coming home late, you don't call to let us know where you've been and you worried us
Claudia: I'm fine *covers her mouth to cough*
Mr. Kishi (1): are you sick or something?
Claudia: uh... no sir, just a cough
Mr. Kishi (1): Claudia...
Claudia: I'm fine dad
Mr. Kishi (1): no you're not
Mr. Kishi (2): Michael...
Michael: Landon... I got this. Your school called and told us some of the kids have been spreading mono. Are you one of them
Claudia: what? No! How can you say that dad! *cough, cough*
Michael: come on we're going to the hospital
Claudia: dad...

Kristy starts to leave while Claudia is distracted.

Michael: if you got nothing to hide then you should be able to prove it to me
Claudia: don't my words mean anything to you
Michael: no because you been coughing off a storm the minute you walked into this room
Landon: come on Claudia
Claudia: daddy, please talk to him *gives him puppy dog eyes*
Landon: *turns to him* Michael...
Michael: Landon, walk away
Landon: *sighs* sorry baby girl, but you're going
Claudia sighs and the three of them went to the hospital together.

With Kristy:
When Kristy made it home, she was thankful that Claudia didn't catch her at her house. She went up to her apartment and found Joe helping the girls with their school work.

Kristy: hey, I'm home
Joe: where have you been
Kristy: I was worried about Claudia and I went to talk to her dads'
Joe: worried about what?
Kristy: n-nothing
Joe: uh... girls why don't you two do your homework upstairs
Riley: awww, do we have too?

Joe gives them a look and Mads said.

Mads: okay, okay

The twins grabbed their homework and backpack and headed upstairs.

Joe: *pats couch* sit, let's talk
Kristy: *groans* Joe... there nothing to talk about
Joe: what's going on between you and Claudia
Kristy: I don't know, she's just been so distant lately, and today we found out she has mono and she won't tell us how she got it, even tho it's pretty obvious she's been kissing someone
Joe: huh...
Kristy: huh what?
Joe: your jealous
Kristy: me... jealous because of my best friend who had her first kiss before me pff please
Joe: wait... so you never kissed Noah?
Kristy: I told you we didn't do anything that night all we did was chill at his place and watched a movie. He didnt even know I wanted to have sex, it would have been an awarkard talk. I just told Dawn that we were having sex to please her
Joe: thank god
Kristy: and this is why I cant talk to you about boys
Joe: sorry Kristy, you know you can talk to me about any boy issues or girl stuff
Kristy: and you promise you won't react
Joe: I can't make that promise but I will listen, you can always count on me
Kristy: thanks Joe, I know you will *hugs him*

Joe hugs her back and kisses her forehead.

With Claudia:
Claudia was at the hospital with her dads' and she just got the results back and her fathers wasn't pleased with the result.

Claudia: see this is exactly why I didn't tell you guys
Michael: You knew Claudia and you didn't tell us. You lied to us
Claudia: I didn't lie
Landon: lie of mission. Meaning you only told us part of the truth
Claudia: daddy...

Landon sighs and turns around and faces the window. He thought for a moment and said.

Landon: your going to the all girl school
Claudia: WHATTTT NOOO?! Dadddddd
Michael: sorry Claudia I have to agree with him, plus he's your biological father
Claudia: pleaseeee daddy, I promise I will do better, I won't lie to you guys anymore please
Landon: it's not just that Claudia. The disobedience in school, not doing your homework
Claudia: I promised, I'll do better in school too. Just please don't put me in another school. I'll miss seeing my friends
Landon: maybe you should have thought about that before you lied

Claudia just burst into tears knowing that she disappointed her father yet again.
