Welcome, everyone. Today we have the lovely girasolesss

A big thank you to her for taking the time to answer these questions.

If you haven't read her books then please do. They're amazing...

Without further ado...

1. What inspired you to start writing?

I've always been a creative person growing up. I've always been drawn towards art or dance or even creative writing (which lead me to become an English major in school). because of my love for literature, it drew me towards writing but I never really had the confidence to post any of my stories until I joined wattpad.

2. Did you have any writers' block along the way? how did you get past them?

I'll admit that sometimes I get writer's block or I'll lose inspiration to write or continue a story, I feel like it's that way with most writers. the best way for me to get over it is to just sometimes step away from the book and take some time to recharge — I'll listen to music that fits the book's aesthetic, I'll read other books or I'll watch shows and movies to regain inspiration until I feel comfortable to write again. I feel it's not the best idea to force inspiration; because although diamonds are made under pressure, it ruins the fun that comes with writing if you're constantly placing yourself under pressure and stress to post a chapter of a book that you're no longer enjoying

3. Do you see yourself in any characters and why?

I definitely see myself in parts for most of my characters that I've created (even the ones that are in the drafts), but I feel as if I could most relate to Lilith out of all of my characters. She's so caring and giving, she's selfless, and she only ever wants the best for the people around her which I feel like I can relate too deeply

4. How old are you?

I just turned 19 in March! almost not a teenager anymore which is quite scary to me

5. How old were you when you started writing?

I've been writing ever since I was young but I started writing on wattpad when I was fourteen or fifteen I believe

6. Can you remember what you felt when you first started writing? what did you feel?

the writing felt calming to me, it was a way to express myself on paper and channel all sorts of emotions. but writing on wattpad publicly for the first time was slightly nerve-wracking because I had never really shown my work to the public besides teachers, but I'm very glad I did!

7. What's your outside life like?

my outside life is very boring at the moment ever since coronavirus. I work two jobs, one is a full-time desk job and the other one is a casual bartending job (that gave part-time hours before I lost it because of the corona). however, I am planning on going to university in the next coming months which is exciting for me

8. Where do you get your ideas from?

I get my ideas from many different places; I'll get then from either a face claim, or I'll create their personality, or I think about how a character would be like in a show with a sibling and how their dynamic would affect the show, or how they would fit with their pairing. I could think of the most random idea and then I'd sit on it and make it bloom into a storyline. I'd get inspiration from a quote or a photo. but a lot of my ideas just brew from me daydreaming about scenarios and I just like to incorporate them towards a character or a show

9. What do you like to do when you're not writing?

if I'm not writing, I'm possibly catching up on sleep and recharging my social battery because of work. I could sometimes catch up with friends and we'd go to dinner or go to a bar for a couple of drinks, but if I'm feeling active I'd be at the gym (which I'm very excited to be back at since they started to open up again). or I could be doing nothing at all besides being in bed watching movies or tv shows or reading other people's work

10. What does your family think about your writing?

honestly, my family and friends have no idea I write, and I like it that way. it gives me my own space and it gives me my own little word that I can come to and relax

11. What do you think makes a good story?

I believe a lot of different things make a good story! a relatable and loveable character helps readers stay interested, along with an interesting storyline/subplot. but I also believe good grammar helps a lot (but that's just the inner literature major in me that's being picky) and I can overlook that when the story is amazing and I love it too much to care

12. What's your favourite genre?

my favourite genre would definitely have to be a mystery, it just keeps you guessing and keeps you on the edge of the seat, and it makes it so hard to put it down! and I'm very much looking forward to putting out my own mystery book in the future

13. Do you write on wattpad or do you use software (like Microsoft word)?

I mainly write on wattpad app because it helps me see what the readers will be looking at when they read my books

14. What's the hardest part for you to write, and why?

I hate writing fight scenes, I feel like I never can explain the manoeuvres well enough and they never make sense, and I'll usually just try and make it so my oc isn't involved or gets taken out so I don't have to write them, but I'm definitely working on them so I can put them in there

15. Do you work on an outline or just go with the flow?

I like to have structure as much as possible, and I like to have my plot points and a baseline when it comes to creating my stories. however sometimes I do stray from then and go in a different direction, which is fine and I'll change the plot points if needed, but in the end, I always do end up following some sort of structure.

16. Do you have anything specific you want to say to readers?

I just want to say I really appreciate every single one of my readers, I love every comment and message I get from them, and I can't believe you guys enjoy my work as much as you do, and I can't be any more grateful for you guys x

17. And lastly, Do you have any advice for new writers.

Just go for it! don't be afraid to put yourself and your work out there, write whatever you please and whatever makes you feel happy! also please don't be so hard on yourself if things don't go the way you planned or you didn't get as many reads/votes as you hoped, this is just the beginning and it takes time to get them, but you'll get there. and if worst comes to worst, you can always take the book down and start again which is the beauty of this app. but you can definitely do it and you won't regret that you did, I promise!
