Alas another year has passed and of course that means another year of gaming has come and gone. Some fantastic games were released this year, as well as some complete and utter garbage of course but you cant have the good without the bad now can you?

For the first time in three years the game of the year has not been blindingly obvious to me, it has been a genuinley tough year, even with some of the crap that was released in the last 12 months we have had some proper cracking games and the top 5 of this list took me weeks of revising, re-listing

and at times even replaying just to find an order for them...and it still changed every single time. Also I have not included any remakes or remastering's into this list simply because of how many were released, that will have it's own separate list.

So sit back, relax and see my favourite 10 games of this past year.

10: Destiny (Dev: Bungie, Pub: Activision, Review Score 7/10)

Destiny was the most anticipated game of the year for many people, not to mention also the most expensive entertainment product ever made costing over $500 million to make. Bungie's first game after leaving the Halo franchise, Destiny is an FPS Sci-Fi/Fantasy MMO wherein the player takes the role of a 'Guardian' who is there to protect 'The Traveller' from 'The Darkness'. This years winner of the most boring, generic character naming and also winner of the game with the least plot; Destiny was in many ways a huge let down. However its strong FPS mechanics and gorgeous visuals did help it in some ways, even in it was missing a lot of basic content an MMO should have.

The biggest let down of the year that none of can stop playing and the one that we all love to hate and hate to love. I mean even I'm guilty of it, hell I put it on my list!

9: Watch_Dogs (Dev: Ubisoft, Pub: Ubisoft, Review Score - 8/10)

Technological terrorism is the game in this open world action adventure from Ubisoft. Aiden Pearce is a hacker living in Chicago. When his niece is killed in an attempted assassination on him by a rival hacker, Pearce swears he will do whatever it takes to track down and find the people who killed her. Watch_Dogs provided a well written, emotional, family centric storyline and a great revenge plot to boot. Bringing the well established Assassins Creed elements into 21st century Chicago alongside innovative hacking mechanics and a large thriving world full of things to do, Watch_Dogs was a great new IP and a good start to a new franchise.

8: Sunset Overdrive (Dev: Insomniac, Pub: Microsoft, Review Score – 8/10)

The only Xbox exclusive to make this list, Sunset Overdrive takes us back to when games were all about the gameplay. From the guys behind Ratchet & Clank and Resistance on Playstation, Sunset Overdrive tells the story of you, yes you, surviving a horrible yet somewhat colourful and visually appealing apocalypse after a new energy drink has turned everyone into horrifying mutants! Grab your outrageous weapons, put on some clothes that don't fit, match or seem to be gender appropriate and kill yourself some mutant scum all whilst looking damn fine doing it.

7: Trials Fusion (Dev: Red Lynx, Pub: Ubisoft, Review Score – 9/10)

Flipping in at #7 is the latest entry to the motorcycle physics game from Red Lynx. Trials Fusion propels players into the future where they get to play a host of increasingly difficult balance and speed challenges accompanied by some gorgeous visuals and a brilliant soundtrack. Including a small story this time around, Trials Fusion gave us everything we ever need from a new Trials game and did it with spectacular style. Just a shame there was no online multiplayer though.
