Snow Day

Wake up late in the morning,

Or maybe early afternoon,

Wondering why you are still at home.

Shouldn't I be at school?

You stumble out of bed to the window,

And glance out at the street.

You are suddenly blinded by the brightness.

The entire area is covered in snow,

Glittering in the light of the sun.

This white scene sparks excitement in you.

Running to get dressed in warm clothes,

And grabbing your coat as you go.

You rush out the door into the drifts,

And jump into a snow pile with delight.

You move your arms and legs back and forth,

As you stare up at the sky,

Thoughts filled with exciting plans for the day,

Because today is a snow day!
