"Estella." Gavin said with a soft voice.
Naramdaman ko ang mga kamay niya na nagsimulang alugin ang katawan ko.
"Gumising ka muna. Hindi pa gabi."
Humarap ako sakanya habang nakapikit parin.
"Magga-gabi na rin naman eh! Wag mo na ako gisingin!"
"Isa."
"Dalawa, Gavin. Marunong ako magbilang kaya umalis ka na."
Tinaas ko pa ang kumot hanggang sa matakpan na ang mukha ko. Kinuha ko rin ang unan na pinagpapatungan ng ulo ko at tinakip yun sa dalawang tenga ko.
"We still need to eat... And do you know that you're still naked? I can see your whole body, Estella."
Shit.
"A-Ano.. Ah- Aish basta! Labas dali-dali! Magbibihis pa ako! Layas!"
Tinanggal ko na ang unan na nakatakip sa mga tenga ko at inayos ang pagkaka-patong ng kumot habang pinapaalis siya gamit ng kamay ko.
"Nakita ko na rin naman yan kanina-"
"Isa!"
Tumawa pa siya bago magsalita ulit.
"Dalawa. Marunong rin kaya ako magbilang noh pero dahil anniversary parin natin ngayon at ayaw kitang magalit, lalabas na ako. Masyado kasing mahiyain girlfriend ko noh?"
"Subukan mo pa talaga magsalita- SA LABAS KA MATUTULOG!"
Tinaas na niya ang dalawang kamay niya sa ere as a sign of defeat at dahan-dahang lumabas.
Nakita ko ang mga damit ko na nakatupi ng maayos sa bedside table. Nilapitan ko yun habang naka-balot parin sakin ang kumot.
Nagsimula na akong magbihis habang patingin-tingin sa pintuan para icheck kung nandun ba si Gavin.
Pagkatapos ay lumabas na ako ng kwarto at nakitang nasa tapat ng kalan ang boyfriend ko at mukhang may hinahalo.
"You cooking something?" I asked, peeking.
"Iniinit ko lang yung sinigang. Hindi na natin nakain kanina dahil-"
"Wag mo na ituloy, Gavin. Sasamain ka talaga sakin."
Naglakad ako patungong lamesa habang siya naman ay patawa-tawa lang.
Tumingin ako sa bintana at nakitang madilim na nga.
"Bwisit ka."
Nagta-takang nilingon ako ni Gavin at itinigil muna ang paga-ayos ng lamesang kakainan namin.
"Hm?"
"Sabi ko sayo pagabi na eh! Pwede namang ikaw nalang kumain mag-isa!"
Umupo na siya sa harap ko at nagsimula ng lagyan ng kanin ang plato ko.
"Minsan na nga lang tayo magka-sabay kumain tapos aayawan mo pa ako ngayon?"
Nilingon ko na siya at nakitang nakatingin na rin siya sakin habang ang dalawa niyang kamay ay nakapatong na sa lamesa.
He tilted his head to the side then asked me.
"Are you tired?"
"Tired from what? Of course I'm tired. My fricking between hurts-!"
He cut me off then moved his chair closer.
"That's not what I mean. I know I've been avoiding this topic for a while now but.. Are you tired?"
"Tired from what, Gavin?" I asked with my brows furrowed.
"Tired of us. Tired of our relationship. Paunti na ng paunti ang oras ko para sayo, para satin. Nagtampo ka pa nga sakin dahil sa hindi ko pag-uwi ng isang linggo. Diba? But I'm telling you, Estella. Just trust me on this-"
"Just what the fuck are you saying? Are you implying that I'm getting tired of our relationship?"
"No. But.."
"But what, Gavin? You know what, I am getting tired to be honest pero hinahayaan lang naman kita, diba? Pinagbibigyan kita kahit halos wala ka ng oras para sakin. Kahit halos hindi na kita makasama o makita man lang kahit nakatira tayo sa iisang bahay. Kung.. Kung gusto mo makipag-hiwalay para sa walang kwentang bagay tulad niyan, then go! Break up with me-!"
He stood up then went over my side.
"That's not what I mean, baby. Calm down. I'm just asking if you're tired of our relationship because I know I've been lacking time for you this past few months but I just want you to be more patient. I love you and you know that, I think I've just been overthinking these days. Let's just eat, please? Forget what I said, ok?"
I nodded without looking at him. He sighed then went back to his seat then started eating like what I did.
We were in the middle of eating, silence covered the whole house so I decided to speak up.
"Baby, you know that I lo-"
His phone started ringing so he raised his hand, signalling me to stop talking before he answered the call.
He was nodding while talking through the phone.
Now that he was busy talking to somebody else, I took my time to examine his face and just now that I realized that he has dark circles around his eyes and he really looks pale. I haven't seen him for a week because of his work and now, I guess I'll be celebrating the rest of our 2nd anniversary alone again for the same reason.
He looked up at me after he ended the call.
"I need to go." He looked guilty as he was talking to me.
"It's our 2nd anniversary, Gavin and you'll let me celebrate the rest of the day alone? Again?"
"Babawi ako sayo, promise. There's just this one thing that needs my attention in the company. I'll come back later."
"Just go already. Parang hindi naman ako sanay na maiwan mag-isa dito, diba? Baka nagi-inarte lang talaga ako ngayon kasi minsan na nga lang tayo magsama, iiwan mo pa ulit ako agad-agad." I said while wearing a sad smile. But I guess, I did it to let him know that I'm disappointed.
"Estella-" He was about to go closer to me and hug me but I stopped him.
"But it's ok! Really! I understand. I just hope that it won't happen again next time." If there is a next time...
"I promise!"
He hurriedly went to our bedroom to change his clothes and went out while wearing his office outfit and while carrying a briefcase in his right hand.
"See you-"
He didn't even looked at me and headed straight out without bidding goodbye.
"I love you. Stay safe." I said to the wind.
It's just me alone again. But this time, no tears left my eye. I should be used to this already because of how many times this had happen.
Longer your patience, Estella. You love him, remember that. Understand him, understand his needs, his responsibilities. Understand every part of him even if he can't do the same to you.
