"欢迎" Marinette repeated perfectly.
"到我家(To my home)" Kalianna said.
"到我家" The bluenette recited perfectly again.
"我叫Marinette(My name is Marinette)" Kali uttered.
"我叫Marinette (My name Marinette)" The bluebell eyed girl repeated, only this time, she said it wrongly.
Kalianna sighed and shook her head. "You were doing so well, until that last part"
Marinette face-palmed and groaned. After so many tries, she had still managed to get that same sentence wrong. "Welcome to my home. My name is Marinette" Was all she had to say in Chinese, but she still couldn't get it right, even with Kalianna's help.
Her uncle, Wang Cheng, was coming over today. Weng was Chinese so that's why it was so important to speak it when he arrived.
Marinette didn't know Chinese so she called Kalianna and asked her if she knew the language. Luckily, the amber eyed girl was fluent in it.
"This isn't working. Maybe you should just say the sentence in English and I'll translate it to your uncle in Chinese" Kalianna suggested.
"No. I wanna be the one to say it to him. Plus, I'm part Chinese, I need to be able to say at least one full sentence in my own language. Now, let's try again" Marinette spoke.
The noirette nodded. "Alright. Now listen carefully. 欢迎来到我的家, 我叫马里内特(Welcome to my home, my name is Marinette"
"欢迎来到我的家, 我叫马里内特" Marinette repeated flawlessly.
Kal's eyes widened and she jumped up as she clapped her hands together. "That's right!"
"Really? I said it perfectly!?"
"Yeah, you did! Good job Marinette!"
Marinette sighed. "Finally! Now that that's out of the way, what do you think of these flowers?"
Kalianna eyed the bouquet of flowers. "They're terrible"
"What?!"
"I'm just kidding! They're fine"
"They can't be fine, they have to be perfect! My mom's uncle is a super Chinese famous chef!" Marinette exclaimed.
"And my uncle is a famous chef, but you don't see me freaking out that he's coming to Paris today!" Kalianna spoke.
"Yeah, but unlike your uncle, my mother's uncle is very particular so things have to be just right"
Just then the doorbell ringed.
Marinette gasped. "That's him!" Before she could get to the door, the bluenette trips over the backing of her couch.
Kalianna rolls her eyes and helped Marinette up. The two girls went over to the door and Marinette opened it.
"你好(Hello)" Wang greeted.
"Uh, welcome Mari, your at Nette's. Uh, ah, welcome to Marinette's! Your Chinese! No no no no! In Mandarin!" Marinette attempted to greet her great uncle in Chinese, but Kalianna stopped her from embarrassing herself further.
"Uh, ignore her Mr. Cheng! What she means to say is, 她的名字叫马里内特, 我叫卡莉安娜娜! 请接受这些花(her name is Marinette, and my name is Kalianna! Please, accept these flowers" The flawless skinned girl said. She gestured for Marinette to give him the flowers and she did.
