"Oh wow, what did we do to deserve this kind of treatment?" Paige asked coming into the kitchen with Shay

"Oh wow, what did we do to deserve this kind of treatment?" Paige asked coming into the kitchen with Shay.

"Y'all asses finally getting up out my house," I said placing down the last pancake, "Blue turn that tv off and come eat!" She was already dressed and ready to go, she just needed to eat.

"Mommy Doc McStuffins is on," she pouted coming into the kitchen.

I sighed, "You better not make a mess in my living room," I said handing her, her plate and a bottle of orange juice, "and don't touch my remote, you always get it sticky! I hate that shit."

"Ok, ok," she mumbled before disappearing into the living room.

It was officially the end of winter break and time for everyone to go back to school. Yay! I've been waiting for this day since winter break started. Lucky for me I didn't have to go back to work — well teach for another 2 weeks so I had 2 weeks to myself.

"I'm so excited," Shay danced as she ate a strawberry.

"Of course you are, you literally have nothing to worry about. You're beyond smart and your grades are perfect," Paige said.

"She's exaggerating, I'm average and I barely get the grades I get."

"What are we talking about?" Chloe asked coming into the kitchen with Halle behind her.

"How Shay has the perfect brain and grades," Paige said.

"I don't," Shay disagreed.

"Those ones are vegan pancakes and the vegan bacon is over there," I told them.

"Don't you only get straight A's and aren't you in like three honors class?" Chloe said as she made her plate.

"Two honors classes."

"Don't downplay it, you're the smartest person in the school, besides me of course. Why aren't you in STEM?" Halle asked.

"Not interested," she shrugged.

"Lies! She doesn't want people knowing she's a genius," Paige said.

"Not true."

Paige rolled her eyes, "Ok Shay."

"You shouldn't hide the fact that you're smart," I said.

"If people know what you're capable of they'll only use you to their advantage. I don't want people tryna be my friend because they need help with their math homework or because they need an essay done."
