"Was it me? Did I do something wrong? Did I overstep or say something, or—" Damon cut the girl off with a sad smile as he grabbed her hand. "You did nothing wrong. You know me better than anyone. I never opened up to anyone before I met you, you made me feel understood, you made me feel alive. But Stefan left with Klaus and then things got complicated." Damon stated and Maddie nodded, a small sense of relief rushing over her but she still felt unfulfilled and not reassured.

"Maddie, I loved you and I will always love you, but I'm not in love with you and I know that you're not in love with me. Not anymore."  Damon stated and Maddie smiled as she thought of Stiles. Her Stiles. "And I hope he treats you better than I did, and I hope he deserves you." The raven haired vampire added and Maddie sighed. "But the phone call. Was what you said true?" Maddie questioned and Damon looked at her.

"Maddie, I was angry at myself for not telling you and hurting you, and instead of letting myself be open with you as I usually was, I was...trying to shut you out. What I said wasn't true." Damon stated causing the girl to nod, wiping her tears.

"Yeah, well. I forgive you, Salvatore. And as much as I hate her right now, I need you to take care of Elena for me. She's going to have a tough time with the house gone and Jeremy gone as well. Just, be there for her." Maddie said and Damon nodded before the Petrova Hybrid stood up, heading to the cellar for a bloodbag.

Maddie walked into the main living room after a refreshing nap upstairs, only to see Matt sitting there, thirty text books open and a notebook in his lap. The brunette furrowed her eyebrows at the sight of the blonde boy studying, before rubbing her eyes and glancing again, only to be meet with the same sight.

"Matt? What the fuck are you doing here?" Maddie questioned and the blonde sighed as she bit her lip. "Studying. I'm kind of behind in all my classes." Matt stated and Maddie nodded, moving to the kitchen and grabbing out the apple juice, pouring herself a glass before walking back into the living room as her doppelgänger walked in.

"How unlucky that you're failing your classes, Matt." The older Petrova said to the Original Vampire and the Human and Maddie watched from her corner, going completely unnoticed as Damon walked into the room. "Seriously? You can't knock?" The raven haired Salvatore stated and Maddie silently snorted.

"Sorry, I didn't realise we were standing on formalities." Katherine spoke causing the Human to stand up as he looked at the woman who caused one of his best friends so much pain by taking away someone she loved. Just then, the werecoyote walked down the stairs, rubbing her eyes tiredly as she looked at all the new faces, the only one she recognised was Maddie's and Damon's, but Maddie wasn't really Maddie.

This woman had a different scent and it left Malia confused as she watched the scene unfold in front of her. "What the hell are you doing here?" Matt snapped and Maddie stepped out from the shadows, looking at her doppelgänger with a glare, causing the older vampire to step back in fear. Malia's eyebrows furrowed as she looked between Maddie and Maddie's carbon copy.

"I told Stefan to bring her here. She's going to talk some sense into the emotionless fuckwit downstairs." Maddie stated only for Matt to then step forward in rage. "Are you out of your mind?!" Matt yelled and Maddie turned on him.

"I don't see you coming up with anything! No offence Matt, but you're human, and a bus boy who's failing all his classes, you're not exactly an intellectual! I don't have to be here and help but I am, so shut the fuck up and sit the fuck down while the adults handle this!" Maddie yelled back, causing the human boy to step back before a low whistle was heard, causing the room to turn to Malia who was watching in amusement. Maddie gave the werecoyote a wink before turning to her older doppelgänger.
