MADELINE PETROVA SMILED AS SHE WATCHED MALIA TATE WALK DOWN THE STAIRS, a suitcase full of clothes they had brought the other day in her hand. They were just getting ready to go when Maddie's phone buzzed in her back pocket, causing the girl to check who it is.

Surprise and anger struck her as she decided to answer it before she held it to her ear. "What the fuck could you possibly want?" The Petrova Hybrid snapped, and Malia stopped at the bottom of the stairs, placing her suitcase down with a look of confusion.

She had never heard Maddie say anything with such complete and bitter hate, and it was almost scary. The werecoyote could only think that she was glad it wasn't her on the other side of the phone. "Okay, I know you're pissed off at me-" The familiar voice of the man Maddie use to love came through the phone, causing her to laugh with bitterness.

"I wasted three years on a relationship that I placed so much love and attention too, and I truely believed that you loved me back, only to find out that- not only did you not love me- but you you were also sleeping with my twin sister. And then I spent months wondering what I did wrong and why I wasn't enough. So yes, I'm pissed off with you, Damon." Maddie snapped, a few years spilling from her eyes as she quickly wiped them away.

"Look, nothing I say now will ever cover the amount of pain I caused you and I'm sorry, but I need your help. It's Elena." Damon Salvatore stated before looking away from the wall and towards his little brother and the blonde vampire, both of which were standing with their arms crossed, expectant looks on their faces. Meanwhile, Maddie stood on the other end of the phone with the most bewildered look on her face.

"You're either extremely dumb or really desperate if you think I'm going to help you help my twin who also stabbed me in the back." Maddie scoffed only to hear a sigh in response. "Maddie, please. She's turned off her humanity and we don't know how to get her to turn it back on. We need your help." Damon stated sincerely and Maddie bit her lip as she weighed her options.

She could hangup now and finally leave her past behind. She could forget Elena and Damon ever existed and focus on her child. Or she could open up that side of her life again. She could go back to Mystic Falls, have her child know the town she grew up with and the people. Mystic Falls was dangerous, sure, but so was New Orleans and Beacon Hills.

Damon felt all hope fly out the window when the line went dead as Maddie hung up. With an agitated huff, he turned to Stefan and Caroline who were both sharing a confused look. They weren't exactly sure how Maddie would react, but they didn't think she'd hang up. "I told you she wouldn't help if I was the one to ask." Damon stated, pouring himself a drink.

Caroline huffed as she rolled her eyes. "No, I know Maddie better than anyone. She wouldn't say no to helping people, even if they did her wrong." The blonde vampire defended her best friend. "Face the facts, blondie! She hung up! She's not going to help us!" Damon yelled and Stefan stepped in front of Caroline, a wary look on his face.
