Riley pov

"What exactly do you mean, 'The end of the gods'?" Nathan asked, worried.

"I mean someone is trying to end the age of the gods' rule," Artemis clarified

"why?" he questioned

I rolled my eyes, "c'mon dude, in all of the movies, tv shows, and books, the bad guy always wants to defeat the good guy for one reason. Wanna guess what it is?"

he rolled his eyes right back as Artemis voice in my head spoke up, "Riley is right, whoever this mystery force is, wants to take over,"

"Or maybe they don't approve of how the gods rule. No disrespect or anything, but the gods aren't exactly the best, and they don't really make the best decisions. Look what Poseidon did to Percy Jackson, the poor guy didn't even do anything, yet he practically disowned him," he added

i turned my head to him, "who's Percy Jackson?" I asked

He was about to explain before Artemis interrupted, "you will find out soon enough, we have bigger matters at hand here at the moment,"

"oh, right."

she continued to tell us about her idea of how the gods were being imprisoned

Nathan froze for a second, "wait what do you mean imprisoned? Is that why Apollo hasn't answered any of our cabins prayers?"

I assumed she would have nodded in this scenario but as you know, she isn't moving

"yes, that is why The Hunters and the Army are here, to help, and I can tell that Chaos and I had similar ideas of them doing the work and the campers not having to know much about what's going on, but after seeing how many monsters there were, and how difficult it was to defeat them, especially after Omega and Alpha disappeared, I feel as if we will need everybody's help," she continued, "how would you like to temporarily become one of the Hunters of Artemis' medics?"

he looked at her as if this was some kind of joke then looked at me too tell him it was a joke, I shrugged and he replied with a confused, "sure?"

"Thank you, you may leave now, Riley, you stay."

he got up and started walking to the door, looking back once before exiting

now that i finally had her alone, it was time for an interrogation.

"What are you doing? He's a boy you know! Plus we already have like 10 children of Apollo! There's Stella, Lina, Kyla-"

"We only have 2 children of Apollo! Anyway, Riley, I'm going to ask you a very serious question, and I need your 100%honest response," Artemis interrupted

I stopped my interrogation/ rant and gave her my full attention,

"yes, Lady Artemis?"

"do you.....Like.....Nathan?" she asked

Really?

I knew what meant as soon as she said it and was partly stunned she would even ask that question

"No, of course not! Why would I!?-"

"Riley-"

"I've literally known him for, like, a day! Plus, I'm a hunter, we don't date or like boys or anything!"

"Riley! Ok, I apologize. I feel as if I was just...paranoid? I don't know. Even though you are sworn to not get involved with men... I have lost some hunters to them and I see that you have so much potential, Riley, I hope you stay long enough to show it to us," she explained
