CW: This one has mentions/details of death and car accidents

Running footsteps, screeching tires, and white, hot pain. That's all you could remember at the moment. Everything was so numb, and yet, hurt so much. You opened an eye to see through blurred vision that you were rushing towards Zim's base. Wait. Wasn't that where you were going today? Yeah. Zim was going to hang out with you at his base. Why did it feel like you were floating? God, everything was so groggy and heavy, but it also felt like you were flying. Why did none of this make sense? Your brain was running faster than ever before.

As this all was happening, Zim had you clenched in his arms, sprinting as fast as his legs could carry both of you towards his colorful abode. As he reached his front door, his foot struck the barrier hard enough that it smashed into the wall with immense force, causing several cracks in the wall.

"Computer!!! Take Zim to his lab!!! Now!!!!" Panic laced his voice as he felt your body growing more limp the longer time passed. The floor panel he was standing on couldn't move fast enough for him, zipping down at a quicker pace than normal. His boots slammed into the floor even before the panel could reach the bottom of its track. His running pace was faster than ever before as he took the last turn down the hallway to the experimental section of his lab. Seeing that there was an empty tube, he rushed over, placing you inside, quickly but gently. The chamber quickly filled up with liquid that held you in a stasis of some kind, keeping you unconscious, but alive. As he finally realized that you were safe, he almost fell backwards into one of the tables, catching his breath. You were safe, for now. After a minute, he looked back up at your bruised and battered body. Memories flooded his head: You two were on your way to be together at his base. It had snowed that day. There was ice. You slipped. He looked away and thought. "Computer!"

"What " It droned at him.

"How much of a chance does (Y/N)-human have of surviving?" There was whirring and beeping before an answer came.

"1% chance of (Y/N) living through injuries." His spooch sank in his abdomen. He wasn't willing to take that chance. He looked you over one more time before making a decision. He was going to save you.

It was several hours before he stepped back from his project. It was finally complete.

"Computer?" A beep in response. "What the chance this is going to work?" Another series of robotic noises before it spoke up.

"86% chance." He nodded. Now those were odds he'd take the chance on. He gently picked up the capsule and inserted it into the empty place it belonged. Then he waited. The liquid drained from the capsule and into your chamber. It seemed to heal you completely in the span of a couple minutes. However, something else started happening to you. Antenna started growing from your head, your hair began disappearing, your skin started turning green. Zim looked on in hope, praying to whomever would listen that this would cure you. After several minute had flown by, you had completely changed, looking almost entirely Irken. Your Irken friend pressed a button, causing the the fluid in your chamber to drain, allowing him to open it up. He removed you from the enclosed space to one of the tables. It was an hour before you woke up.

"Wha-" You turned to see Zim looking down at you, a smile on his face. The last thing you remember is pain and blurry vision, and now you were here, laying on a lab table in the depths of Zim's base. "What happened?" Zim shifted nervously.

"Well, you were incredibly injured.... But Zim fixed you!" You shook away any dizziness before sitting up, looking down at yourself. You gasped in surprise. You weren't you anymore. You were completely green.

"What did you do to me?!" The Irken jumped, almost scarred.

"Zim saved you life. You-" Cutting him off as you slid off the table, you gripped his shoulders.

"Let me see!!" He stopped before calling for a mirror from Computer. You looked at yourself in horror. You now looked a lot like Zim, antenna and everything. The only difference you could see was the amount of fingers you had. Your hands still had all of its digits. Angry rose in your throat. "Am I Irken now?!" Zim put his hands up defensively.

"It was the only way to save you! Zim had no choice!" You silently fumed as you stared him down. He gulped before continuing. "You still have your human organs, so you can still eat human food." You sighed, thinking. He did just save your life. It was all just so confusing and fast. You looked up at your alien friend again, this time with a smile.

"Thanks, Zim. I'm sorry for yelling. I'm just...... I just need to sit down." He nodded, out a hand. You looked it over before smiling more and taking it. He led you back upstairs and to the couch where you two relaxed. After a couple minutes, Zim did something a little unusual. He wrapped his arms around you and just held you. You did mind, you had a crush on him. You two just sat there in each others' arms, taking in what actually happened that day.
