Zim x Reader (Braces)

You couldn't help but stare at the green boy across the room, your head resting in the palm of your hand. You've had a crush on him for forever..... or at least it felt that way. Even though he was an alien, he was just perfect. He had the confidence you never did. Probably because you've worn braces since you were 7. These dang things were like a curse that you couldn't get rid of. They hurt like the dickens, you couldn't get near magnets, you couldn't eat certain foods, the list could go on and on about how much the metal contraption in your face sucked to have. As you were lost in thought, you hadn't noticed a particular person, or Irken, march over to you. 

"Hey, human!" His voice snapped you out of it. A blush crossed your face as he was next to you. Even with an annoyed and curious expression, he was still amazing. Sitting up, you stuttered out an apology.

"S-sorry, Zim! I didn't mean to stare. I w-was just-" 

"Yes, yes, Zim is amazing, but I've noticed you've been staring more than usual." He gave you a suspicious squint in your direction. You shook your head, trying not to expose your feelings to him, quickly thinking of an excuse that he'd believe. 

"Well, I was just wondering something." A nonexistent eyebrow raised in questioning.

"Oh? And what would that be, (Y/N)-human?"  You became more flustered, trying to think of something quick. 

"U-um..... well, you see.... I was j-just wondering if..... if you'd maybe show me the stars!" You blurted the last part out. The alien looked at you, surprised. 

"Human, you can see the stars from your base." He didn't get what you were wanting.

"No, no. I mean, from your ship. I want to fly up into the atmosphere and see them without any light pollution." What you really wanted was to be closer to him and spend some alone time with him. You were trying to convince yourself to tell him you liked him. You weren't quite sure how he'd take it, but you've wanted to get it off your chest for a long time. "Please?" You made the cutest puppy dog eyes you could at him, hoping it would work. He thought about it, rubbing a hand on his chin. 

"I suppose....." You smiled with your mouth closed, excited. "But! You have to pay Zim back for it!! Zim isn't a taxi service!!!!!" 

"I promise you won't regret it, Zim!!!!" The loud siren that indicated the end of lunch pierced the air, causing the hypothetical flood gates to open and everyone to scramble back to their classrooms. As the rest of the school day crawled on, the only thing on your mind was being close to Zim. Saying you were excited was an understatement. Words couldn't describe how happy and excited you were for this. You  couldn't think of anything else. The end of the day bell rang and you booked it to the front of the school, waiting eagerly for your favorite space boy. He emerged from the crowd of kids, his shoulders tense until he spotted you. He marched over to you before gripping your wrist and pulling you along in the direction of his amazing base. The entire trip was silent besides the usual sound of the neighborhood and your footsteps. Surprisingly, he didn't let go of your hand until you two were inside the Voot Cruiser. He only let go to drive the machinery. He removed his disguise and shoved it haphazardly into his Pak before maneuvering the ship up into the air and into the atmosphere. Your eyes sparkled in amazement at it all. The stars looked so much better closer. It was amazing. Zim was leaning back into his pilot's chair, his arms crossed and a smile on his face. 

"Zim, this is amazing." You almost sounded out of breath. 

"Yes, almost amazing as you, (Y/N)." Your gaze shot from the sky to him. Blushed dusted both your faces as you both realized what just happened. And then something amazing happened. You smiled. A genuine smile spread across your face, showing off your brace-covered teeth. The first smile in years. And he smiled back. 

Hehehehe. I'm gonna write the next one/ones tomorrow because it's currenty almost 2 am here, so I need sleep =w=. Hope ya'll enjoyed the ones I put up today!!!
