Alone

Chapter 23

Adrien gently rubbed his daughters back and sighed, "I... I can't make it stop yet princess."

"I don't like seeing you like this! I can loose you!" Emma cried into his chest.

"I know, and I'm sorry. But that's part of the job, taking risk," Adrien looked down at his daughter.

"Then quit!" Emma looked up at her dad.

"Quit!?" Tikki and Plagg said in unison.

"Yes!" Emma looked at the two kwami's.

"He can't quit! Not yet!" Plagg exclaimed.

Adrien ran his fingers threw her hair, "He's right Emma."

"Then fight the bad guy!" Emma looked back at her dad.

Adrien sighed and shook his head, "I don't know where he is."

"I'll help you," Emma said.

"No Emma, that's a bad idea. I'll start looking tomorrow to see if I can find him," Adrien said.

Emma looked down, "Okay."

Adrien kissed the top of her head, "Go to your room and rest a bit, alright?"

Emma nods and got off his lap. She left the room as she closed the door behind her. Marinette sat by Adrien to help him, "Here, I'll help."

Adrien shook his head, "It's fine, I can do it on my won."

Marinette kissed his cheek, "I love you, and I also don't want you getting hurt. You can get killed."

Adrien watched her, "You know it's part of the job."

Marinette gently rubbs his arm, "I know, but he's getting powerful Adrien."

Adrien puts his shirt back on, "That's why I have to get stronger."

"We have to be strong."

"Sorry, I'm still kinda used to working alone."

Marinette slipped her hand into his, "I can see that."

Adrien brought her hand up to his lips and left a gentle kiss, "I'm glad your mine again."

Marinette giggled, "I missed your flirts."

Adrien leaned closer, "I'm cute for you to resist."

"You are correct," Marinette leaned closer as well.

"Of course," Adrien said as he kissed her. Marinette kissed him back.

A couple of weeks have past and Emma and Marinette were alone in the mansion as Adrien had gone out to get breakfast.

"Mom, let's surprise dad," Emma said as she looked up at Marinette.

Marinette looked down at her daughter, "How?"

"Let's scare him!" Emma smiled brightly.

Marinette nodded, "Sounds like a plan, he should be here soon."

"Let's hide behind the door!" Emma suggested.

Marinette picked her up and walked over to the door, "Good idea."

After a few minutes Adrien walked in the door as he was putting his keys away, "I'm home with breakf-"

Marinette and Emma slammed the door closed and exclaimed in unison, "Boo!"

Adrien jumps as he had gotten scared, "Meow."

Emma started to laugh, "That was funny!"

Marinette began to laugh as well, "Yeah!

Adrien looked at them, "That's not funny!"

"Yes it-" Marinette could not finish her sentence as she felt sick after smelling the foor and ran off to the bathroom.

Adrien hands the bag to Emma and runs after Marinette, "Marinette, what's wrong!?"
