My Double Life

Chapter 6

"It's time to part-ay, woah." Karen sings as she and Gabby walk up to me at my locker

"You are way too excited for this party Kay. With all that excitement, just be responsible tonight please." I tell her

"Don't worry about me, Gabby will be there to make sure I'm safe." She slings her arm around Gabby who just gives her an 'are you serious' look.

Gabby looks over to me and I mouth her a 'good luck'

The rest of my afternoon went on normal as usual. It became even better because I got a call from Randy telling me that my fight has been cancelled, something about the dude landing himself in trouble. I wasn't really paying much attention to the details, i was just excited for my Friday off.

Oh and no, this does not mean that I'm going to that party, I'm extremely tired and a place full with loud music, underage drinking and sweaty bodies isn't going to help me. I've just been released from that scenery today I'm not willingly going to another.

"I'll see you tomorrow Astrid." I sling my backpack over my shoulders and wave goodbye at my boss

"Send my greetings to your father and sister." She shouts back and I hold my peace sign up as I make my way to the bus stop

I get home and dad is in the living room with Giana. Upon my sight, she runs up to me and only manages to hug my legs due to her tiny frame.

"Wassup dad." I greet my dad who's focus is on something on the tv

"Hey baby." I pick Sergiana up, walking with her to the kitchen and setting her down on the kitchen counter

"Have you had something to eat?" I ask and she shakes her head

"Want me to order us a pizza?" She looks at me with wide eyes and nods her head multiple times

I order pizza and breadsticks and that's our dinner for tonight, I'm too lazy to cook and my dad isn't going to get up anytime soon. After having atleast two slices, I head up to my room

"Day off." I say to myself and hop in the shower for a quick one

After getting out, I wear a long sleeved white shirt and grey sweatpants and my white converse. It's my day off and I am not going to spend it indoors.

No I'm not going to the party, I'm going where the road takes me. I say bye to my dad and after a 'don't be out too late', I make it out the door.

I walk until I come up to an ice cream shop where I buy a lemon flavoured ice cream and continue my journey on the streets. I finally make it to a park and I see a someone that looks like... Kendrick

"Fancy seeing you here." I say as I take a seat next to him

"Can't say the same about you." He looks at me with no emotion whatsoever

"Want some?" I offer him my ice cream

"No thank you, I'm pretty sure it's a weird flavour." He says looking back up to the sky

"No it's not, try it and you'll see." I defend

"Okay, first tell me what flavour it is." He crosses his arms

"Lemon." I say like a proud mother

He laughs still looking at the sky. I haven't heard him laugh before, forget that I have never seen him smile.

"I knew it was a weird flavour. I just didn't know it would be the top of weird flavours." He says looking at me and laughing again

"If you didn't want any of my ice cream, you should've just said so. What are you doing here anyway, aren't you supposed to be setting up a party with the guys?" I ask

"Yeah, i just needed a quick getaway." He answers

"Why? What's on your mind? Tell your uncle Skylar." I tell him

"Uncle?" He lifts his eyebrow "I don't think so." He finishes

"C'mon, I'm not going to judge and besides you never know if it'll make you feel better." I say finishing my last bits of ice cream

"I don't know, I guess I have my head wrapped around finding this girl and I barely have time for anything else. It gets really frustrating." He says

And we are talking about me.

Great!

But on the bright side, he's actually talking to me and its not just throwing insults my way

"Well, she must be really special for you to want to find her this bad."

"Not exactly but something like that. I've never actually seen her face." He scratches the back of his head

"A runaway Cinderella. I didn't take you to be the kind of guy that's into that stuff." I tease

"Shut up." He says and I can see the corner of his lips curve a little

"Just give it time, you might land yourself in unnecessary danger because of this girl that first, you know nothing about. How did you cross paths anyway?"

"Uh, I met her at a masquerade party Seth's parents invited me to one time and she was a magnificent dancer." He lies

Ofcourse he won't tell me that he street fights. It's not something you just blurt out after all.

"And we're back to the Cinderella part. Don't tell me she left her shoe behind too." I am in full laughter at this point and he lets out a chuckle too

We stay at the park for a couple of hours just chatting about random things. Kendrick isn't that bad after all

"No way, I don-" he was cut off by the ringing of his phone. It was Ray

"Yeah? No I'm out. Okay chill I'm coming." He ends the call

"They are looking for me back at the party. You coming?" He asks standing up

"No thanks, it's late now so I'll just head home. You guys have fun though." I say getting up too

We turn to leave the park when I slip on the wet grass causing me to fall with a thud. Kendrick heard this cause he immediately turns around and walks back to where I am on the ground

"You okay down there?" He asks clearly amused

"Yeah I'm fine. It's uh... cosy. Wanna join?" I ask embarrassed beyond belief

"No, I think I'm fine up here." He says and holds out his hand to help me up

I take it and when I come up, he takes one look at me and starts laughing

"Ray was right. You are indeed very funny." He says still laughing

"I'm glad I amuse everyone. I'm just waiting for my acceptance letter from the circus." I roll my eyes

He clutches his stomach and laughs even more. Idiot

"How are you getting home?" He asks once he has sobered up

"I walked here so I'm going the same way I came." I tell him

"Nah, I'll take you home. Get in." He says opening the passenger door of his car for me. I get in and he closes the door.

What a gentleman

We reach my house and I thank him for the ride

"Thanks for the talk, it really made me feel better." He says as I open the door

"Anytime and goodluck with Ms mystery girl." I send him a smile

"Thanks circus girl." My smile drops and he laughs at my expense

I shut the door and walk up to mine waving back at him before I enter
