His Favorite Person

Michael hung up the phone after saying a quick goodbye to one of his clients and rushed to sign out of his work computer. He already stayed thirty minutes later to finish a business call and he wanted to get home as soon as possible.

Not that he didn't like his job, Michael loved what he did. But he loved a certain man that was waiting for him at home a little more.

He started his forty minute drive back to his and Luke's house and sighed as he sat in the usual traffic that stopped him from seeing his favorite person even more. As he waited for the cars in front of him to start moving, he checked his phone to see if his husband had texted him.

Michael frowned when he saw no new texts from Luke and one from his mom, which he replied to right away. He contemplated calling the dirty blond before traffic began to let up and he was able to move.

He put his phone in the cup holder next to him and hoped he'd get home soon.

As Michael pulled into his neighborhood and turned onto his street, he got giddy when he saw Luke's car in the driveway. As he parked next to the car, he saw Luke kneeled down in front of their house, tending to his flower garden.

His back was toward the road, but he heard Michael's car and turned around with a smile. As he turned his car off and gathered his things, Michael saw Luke take off his gardening gloves and stand up.

He got out of the car and put his things on the ground before making his way to Luke.

"Hey, baby." Luke said softly and waited for his husband to come closer.

"Sweetheart," Michael started, smiling at the lovely man, "Hi, pretty."

Luke did look pretty. The light of the setting sun hit the man's face and made his bright blue eyes appear even brighter.

"How was work? Did you leave late?" Luke asked softly before gently kissing Michael.

The older man hummed against Luke's lips before pulling away and nodding. "A client called right before I was about to turn my phone off."

Luke felt so in love as Michael held him against his body as he kept his own hands on his chest. He felt lost in Michael's bright green eyes and couldn't help but pressing their lips together again.

"Isn't that what always happens?" He said after he pulled away.

Michael hummed again and rubbed his fingers over Luke's waist in a comforting way before resting one hand at the bottom of Luke's back.

"The flowers look great," Luke turned to look at his garden, "Almost as pretty as you."

He turned back to see a sweet smile on his husband's face and couldn't help but to grab Michael's face and kiss him deeply once again. The older man chuckled into the kiss and pressed Luke against his body.

Luke pulled away and played his Michael's tie. "I'm gonna finish up and then I'll start on dinner, ok?"

"I can do it if you want, what were you going to make?"

"Just some spaghetti and the salad you like." Michael grinned and kissed Luke's forehead.

"Don't worry about it. Finish up out here and I'll make it."

"I love you." Luke kissed Michael's chest and pulled away for the first time in about ten minutes.

"I love you." Michael repeated and started to walk up the stairs before Luke stopped him.

"Don't forget your bag, babe." Luke had already gotten back to planting more of his flowers.

Michael went back to the side of his car and grabbed his jacket and bag before coming back to the front door. "What would I do without you?"

"Lose your things, probably." Luke joked.

"Probably," Michael repeated, "I love you."

Before Luke could even respond, Michael had gone inside to start dinner for the two of them and let his favorite person tend to his flower garden.
