Luke nervously stepped into the tattoo and piercing shop, a small piece of paper clutched in his hand. He walked up to the front counter and smiled at the heavily tattooed man behind the counter.

"I have an appointment with Michael for two o'clock?" He said as more of a question rather than a statement.

The guy smiled and checked the computer screen before replying, "Luke?"

He nodded, "That's me."

The man nodded towards a door in the back of the room. "Right this way."

Luke followed close behind the man and looked around the new room he was now in. There were black and grey drawings along with explosions of color on the walls. He saw another guy, covered from his neck to his hands in tattoos, sitting on a stool by a table, looking like he was drawing something.

"Hey, Mike. Your two o'clock is here." Michael turned his head and smiled widely.

He got up from his chair and held out his hand for Luke to shake. "I'm Michael, it's nice to meet you."

"Luke, nice to meet you too."

Michael sat down at the stool again but abandoned the drawing he was working on.

"Do you have something already in mind that you want?" He asked nicely.

Luke nodded and gave him the now-crumpled piece of paper. He watched as Michael looked over it.

"Looks simple enough. I'm gonna go draw up a quick stencil and then we'll get started, yeah?"

Luke nodded as Michael continued, "You can take a seat right here," He gestured to the large chair that was in the middle of the room, "And I'll be right back."

The blond took a seat and looked around the room once more. He was wondering if this was still a good idea.

Yes, it was.

About ten minutes went by before Michael came back into the room.

"Alright, where are we putting the tattoo?"

Luke blushed, "I was thinking my ribs."

"That is a sensitive area and will be more painful than other places. It is a small tattoo so you should be fine, if you want me to stop at any time just let me know, okay?"

Michael smiled again, causing Luke to smile as well. He couldn't help but keep his eyes on the boy as he got his needles and machines ready.

He was cut off from his thoughts when Michael spoke again.

"You good?"

Luke realized he hadn't taken his shirt off yet and blushed again, "Sorry."

"It's fine, nothing to be sorry for."

He stood up so Michael could put the stencil on. He looked in the mirror and saw where it was and smiled because he liked it already.

"Is the placement good?"

Luke nodded, "Yeah, it's perfect."

Luke sat down on the chair and laid on his left side so his back was to Michael. He waited for the initial sting of the needle and closed his eyes when he felt Michael start.

"If you don't mind me asking, is there a story behind this?" Michael asked quietly as he kept his eyes on the tattoo.

"It's in psalm 23:4, I remember my grandad read it to me all the time when I was little. He passed recently and I think this is a nice tribute to him. Every time I'll look at it I'll think of him."

Michael grinned and glanced at Luke before looking back at the ink he was putting on his skin. "Well I think he'll like it a lot."

Luke smiled over his bare shoulder and blushed at the feeling of Michael's gloved hands on his skin.

Ten minutes went by and Michael finished the tattoo, smoothly wiping over the sensitive skin.

"Wanna have a look?"

Luke nodded and walked over to the mirror against the wall. He read over the pretty script lettering and felt his eyes fill with tears.

I will fear no evil, for you are with me

"Thank you," He sniffed, "So much."

Michael walked over, ready to wrap the tattoo. "Of course, Luke. So you like it?"

Luke laughed, "I love it."

Michael adjusted the snapback that was resting on his head before wrapping and taping Luke's torso.

"Alright, lets go back up front and I'll ring you up." Michael kept his hand on Luke's waist, a little too long for it to still be considered friendly.

Luke blushed and put his shirt back on before following him to the front desk.

As Michael told him the price, Luke was thinking about how cute and caring Michael was, and thought about the cues the tattooed boy was giving him. He was contemplating if he should make a move or not.

He decided he probably wouldn't get another tattoo any time soon, so what was the harm?

"Um..are you working tomorrow?" He asked softly.

Michael smirked a little and looked at the computer screen to stop his smiling before turning to Luke again.

"Eight to four, but I'm free after." Michael hinted.

"Would you maybe want to go to an early dinner with me?"

"I most definitely would," Michael leaned on the counter to get closer to the blond boy, "You should give me your number so when you get home later I can tell you how to take care of the tattoo."

Luke bit his bottom lip and nodded before taking his phone out, knowing tattoos weren't the only thing they would be discussing.
