Chapter 41: Boyfriend Troubles

"I want to run" Sawyer demands as she walks into the Chancellor's office. Abby and Kane turned to the girl who entered. "Um what?" Abby says in shock

"Listen, the 3 of us have built Arcadia from the ground. Pike doesn't get to just stroll in here and change everything we have built! If both of us are running, one of us is bound to win. If I win, Kane obviously you're going to help me and Kane if you win then I will help you. But if Pike wins. Then we're all fucked" Sawyer explained 

"It's our only hope" Kane says shrugging. "Ok" Abby says nodding. Sawyer nodded to the 2 before walking out

She didn't sleep last night, sleeping alone was harder then she thought. She stayed up the whole night thinking about how disgusted she was by Bellamy wanting to kill the grounders

It didn't sound like Bellamy at all and that's what hurt the most. She feared that he was changing and becoming something that no one wanted

And Sawyer was devastated. She lost by 1 vote

Sawyer was angry, she fought for these people through everything and know all of a sudden Pike walks in and wants to destroy the peace 

 "Lift you head up and show that Pike will not effect you" Kane advises. Sawyer nods "Let's go" he instructs. Sawyer and Kane fell in sync as they walked to the prison cell, 3 guards behind them. Kane kept at Sawyer's limping pace

A guard pushes in the key code and opens the door. Sawyer and Kane walk through

Sawyer watches as Bellamy stands up in the corner. They made eye contact before Sawyer looked down not even wanting to look at him

Pike stands up and Kane says "Congratulations, Mr. Chancellor" 

Pike sighs in relief before looking to Bellamy. Sawyer follows his gaze and sees her boyfriend nod at Pike. "Where's Abby" Pike asks

"Wishing she could be here" Sawyer responds sarcastically 

Kane pulls out the chancellor pin and hands it to Pike. Sawyer holds in her frustration  

"The vote between you and Sawyer was close. Our people are now your responsibility, Charles. I hope you take that seriously" Kane speaks. Pike looks to Sawyer confused "I didn't know you were in the running" Pike says

"Well you weren't meant to be in it either" she responds sassily. Bellamy stares at his girlfriend not even surprised by her attitude 

Pike turns back to Kane. "I certainly intend to live up to take this very seriously" he says. Sawyer watches as he clips the pin to his shirt

"For my first official action as Chancellor, I pardon myself and the others. For my second official action, I reject the brand that made us the 13th clan" Sawyer looks down and bites her lip. Fucking moron she screamed in her head

"For my third" Pike turns to Bellamy and says "let's finish what we started" While everyone else nodded Bellamy stood still leaning on the wall. His gaze was on Sawyer who he could tell was holding in tears 

Pike started to walk away but Sawyer grabbed the new Chancellor's arm and pulled him back to face her

"My people lived in peace for 3 months. Arkadia thrived. And all because I made peace with the grounders. As the new Chancellor you should made decisions that create peace not decisions that drags my people into war" Sawyer said voice low as she stared right into his eyes 

"And as the new Chancellor I need you to trust that I am doing the right thing for our people"

Sawyer took a deep breath and Pike pushed past her, everyone following him out of the cell while Bellamy lingered for a second. He walked up to pass Sawyer and Kane but Kane steps in front of him "It's not too late to choose the right side" Kane advises not wanting Bellamy to do something he'd regret
