Chapter 17: Grounder Healer

Everyone was paranoid, the grounders haven't retaliated for the bombing on the bridge so Bellamy had the patrols on their toes watching every angle at every second 

"First watch is over. Go relieve Monroe on the south wall. Keep your eyes open" Bellamy said to the guys behind Sawyer. She was perched up watching the outside of the wall from a hill

Bellamy walked up and looked at her "Anything?" 

Sawyer shook her head no, "Its been 2 days. Maybe the bomb at the bridge scared them off for good" Sawyer said shrugging. She couldn't even process why the grounders had all of a sudden become silent 

"You believe that?" Bellamy said scoffing. Sawyer shook her head "No.. they're coming" she had an unexplainable feeling. Bellamy started walking down with Sawyer following

"Jasper thinks he can cook up some more gunpowder if he gets some sulfur, and Raven says she can turn that into landmines. So be careful where you step" 

Sawyer laughed "funny" she smirked at Bellamy 

"What I really need is a thousand more of your tin can bombs I can roll into their village and blow those Grounders to hell" Sawyer looked at Bellamy with a look of disgust at the idea of him wanting to end lives 

 "That's what they want to do to us" Bellamy says trying to reason with her. "I just can't believe we survived 100 years just so we could slaughter each other. There has to be another way" Sawyer says looking at Bellamy 

"Anything from the ark?" he asks. "Radio silence" Sawyer responded "They finally ran out of air" Bellamy said looking down and stopping. Sawyer stopped walking as well 

"Maybe Cole was lucky being on the Exodus ship. At least it was quick. I just hope my Dad didn't suffer for too long before the air ran out. No one is coming down to save us" 

Bellamy looked down, everyone believed that Sawyer's Dad was on the exodus ship but no one had brought up the idea to Sawyer

"Let's go" Bellamy said tapping Sawyer which got them both walking again. He opened the gate holding it for Sawyer to pass in first him going after locking it

Bellamy and Sawyer walked in silence through the camp. Suddenly screams broke out making them run in search for the problem 

"The smokehouse is on fire!" they heard someone yell 

"Bellamy, Octavia's in there" Sawyer said. Suddenly a jog turned into a sprint as they both headed for Octavia. Sawyer stopped outside but Bellamy jumped right in and pulled Octavia out. Del a delinquent came out falling and coughing and lastly Murphy fell out 

Sawyer bent down and helped him up "Murphy are you ok?" Sawyer asked. He nodded and she helped him gain his balance

Octavia was coughing smoke out of her lungs making Sawyer cringe 

"This is all your fault! We told you it was too much wood" Murphy yelled running towards Del. "Get the hell away from me!" Del growled. Murphy threw a punch and both boys started fighting 

"Hey! Hey! Hey! Stop! Save it for the grounders" Bellamy said pulling them apart 

"Bell what the hell are we gonna do now? That was all the food!" Octavia screams. Sawyer sighed and locked eyes with Bellamy who was agitated 

Everyone helped put out the fire before heading off in their own directions to continue their jobs. "Any idea what happened?" Sawyer asked walking up with Clark to Bellamy who stood in the middle of the ashes of the smokehouse 

"Murphy says that Del kept feeding the fire, mostly because Octavia told him it was a bad idea" Bellamy explains. "And we believe Murphy?" Clarke asked. "I do" Bellamy said covering his face with his hands 

"Yeah. We have some wild onions and nuts in the drop ship. It's only enough to last us maybe one or two weeks. What's left here?" Clarke asks "Nothing its all burnt" Sawyer answered kicking at the ground 

"Then we have to hunt, anyone we can spare goes out" Clarke declares walking away. "Woah woah with the whole grounder army out there?" Sawyer says grabbing Clarke to stop her 

"Look we can't defend ourselves if we're starving" Clarke argues "Now come on" 

Bellamy and Sawyer followed heading to the drop ship where they would separate the groups
