A white pill

Are you sure this is what you want?
They had asked with little patience
In their voice
I thought of the line of women &
Girls behind me
Just outside of the plasterboard wall
Just outside of the sticky white door

& all I could think
Is
No
No
No
No!

But I instinctively nodded my head
As being told what to do
Is all I had ever
Known
I'm not blaming her
She couldn't of known
For they forgot to ask me:

Is this your decision alone?

She watched me drink the
Anti- sickness liquid
As my mouth would not hold in
The pill

Then after a brief moment
She slid
The white bullet across the desk
It looked so small
It didn't look capable of
Starting this all

It didn't look like
It was going to end a life

The water in the cup slightly
Spilt
& she watched me boredly

- & I took the first pill.
