"Kailan ka pupunta ng Manila para magpa-enroll?" tanong ni Jared. Nandito kami ngayon sa ospital. Natutulog pa si Mama.
"First week of July."
"Next week na yun. Sabay tayo!"
A smile lift up my face. Excited akong tumango. He chuckled.
"We should book a flight now!"
"Okay. I'll book a flight for us later."
We continued chatting about our trip to Manila when the door opened and Papa entered the room. When he saw Jared his face became bitter but surprisingly he didn't say a word and he went straight to Mama.
"How many hours has your Mama been sleeping, Chandra?"
"Mahigit tatlong oras na, Pa."
"Wala ba siyang iniindang sakit?"
I shook my head.
"Are the nurses checking up on her regularly?"
"Yes, Pa."
He nodded. He faced Jared and started asking him questions.
"I heard you passed UPCAT too. Congratulations."
"Thank you, Sir."
"Anong course ang kukunin mo?"
"Civil engineering po."
"Ayaw mo bang pumasok sa medical field?"
"Pa..."
"Chie, okay lang," ani Jared at binigyan ako ng ngiti bago sinagot ang tanong ni Papa. "Hindi naman sa ayaw. Hindi po kasi ako interesado sa medical field, Sir."
"So ayaw mo nga?"
"Pa, there's a difference between dislike and not interested," hindi ko na napigilan ang pagsalita.
"I know, Chandra. I'm just clarifying things."
Umiling ako. Gumising na si Mama kaya iniwan na ni Papa si Jared at tinoun ang buong atensyon kay Mama. Pagkatapos nilang mag usap inaya ni Papa si Jared sa labas.
"Are you sure your okay?"
He gave me a reassuring smile. "It's okay. Hindi naman kumakain ng tao ang Papa mo."
