Your days weren't always picture perfect.

There were days when the universe just seemed to play you dirty and that day seemed to be one of those. It had all started when you woke up thirty minutes late.

You were a hundred per cent sure you had turned on your alarm, but of course, you hadn't taken a double check to assure the charger was properly connected to your phone. When you woke up and checked, your phone was completely dead. In any normal situation, Tom would have your back. He'd set an alarm on his phone and wake you up, but he was filming.

The fact that he was gone didn't help much either, as you only felt another pang of sadness when you woke up to the house cold, silent and empty, just like it had been for a full-on six months.

The day got worse from then on. You had to do a presentation that was worth half your semester's final grade and had to present two exams.

Things had just been accumulating on your back to the point where you could not even think straight. You were just so focused on your presentation that the exams just flew over your head.

To no surprise, you had failed both tests and had arrived late to your presentation. You only wanted to get home and cuddle yourself on the couch with a fluffy blanket as you watched TV to suppress the intense wish to cry that you felt at that very moment. However, the thought flew out the window when you arrived at work that afternoon and noticed your co-worker was not there.

You approached your friend Dan as you tied the apron behind your back, "Where's Molly?"

"She's sick. Was wondering if you could cover her for a bit past your shift," A sigh escaped your lips at his words. You couldn't refuse. Molly would always cover for you whenever you were too tired or busy to go to work.

You found yourself looking at the clock every once in a while as you arranged flowers. It seemed to be ticking away slowly, almost as if the universe was laughing bitterly at you.

Tom sent a text at 6:00 PM sharp, just like he'd usually do just to know if you had gotten back home safely, 'How was your day? You already home?'

You replied to his text with a simple No, followed by, 'extra shift, wanna die.' You had texted your best friend throughout the day about how terrible it had been and his heart ached for you, knowing how much effort you put into both school and work.

A sigh escaped past your lips once you finally closed the door of your car. You were so ready to go home and just eat ice cream to relieve your frustration.

To your surprise, however, you could see the light of your living room was on, just like the one in the study. You furrowed your eyebrows, had you forgotten to turn them off? You just shrugged your shoulders. In any normal situation, you would have thought that maybe there was a burglar, but you couldn't even bother to make a story in your head.

You took the keys out of your pocket and opened the door. The delicious smell of hot chocolate invaded your nose as you took a deep breath. In the end, you concluded that Haz or one of the twins had probably decided to let themselves in when you were gone, so you paid no mind to it as you let your backpack fall on the floor and locked the door. But then, as you took a few more steps to the kitchen, it dawned on you that they were supposed to be at a party.

"Hey, I thought you guys were going to that party tonight," At that point, you were incredibly confused. It was not a burglar, because, what burglar would make hot chocolate?

You walked into the kitchen. Tom was sitting on a stool at the breakfast table. He was already looking at the door, waiting for the moment where you'd walk in. Your mouth fell agape at the sight of your best friend and roommate, who was not supposed to be back for another two weeks.
