We're not, no we're not friends, nor have we ever been.
We just try to keep those secrets in a lie,
And if they find out, will it all go wrong?
And Heaven knows, no one wants it to.

It was a relaxed Friday night at the café. Usually, there weren't many people hanging out at the café, only the same costumers as always. At first, the idea of working your weekends away at a café didn't seem as appealing. You weren't going to lie, sometimes the annoying costumers got the best of you and there were sleepless nights, but you had grown fond of it.

You were preparing an order for an old man and his granddaughter that would always come in on Fridays, they were some of your favourite costumers. A few laughs and screams caught your attention, you directed your attention to the source of all the noise. A few guys from the varsity football team had sat down at a booth, waiting to be attended.

A small smile made its way to your face as you approached, you smiled at your brother Haz, who had brought some friends over, "Hey guys, can I take your order?"

The curly-haired boy, Tom, Harrison's best friend smiled at you and blush made its way to your cheeks as you remembered what you had done with him just a few days earlier. They told you their orders happily, you wrote them down.

Your shift ended right after you stopped serving them, so you gathered up all your things and changed out of your work clothes, which had coffee stains and were just disgusting. You zipped your bag after folding your clothes away and walked out.

Footsteps were heard behind you as you walked. You turned around to see who was behind you, only to be met with a familiar pair of warm brown eyes. Tom was smiling brightly at you as he approached you at a quick pace. A smile etched its way to your face as your eyes met with his, "Hey princess."

"Tom, hey." You spoke once he was walking beside you. The light coming from the street light posts would hit him every so often, making his soft features even clearer in the dark, "What are you up to?" You asked with a raised eyebrow, making Tom chuckle.

"Can't I take you back to your dorm, pretty girl?" Your cheeks acquired a slight tint of red at the nickname, "I guess you can."

He took your bag in his hands and carried it for you. You smiled even more at his action, Tom was always so caring of you, but the way he made you feel was starting to terrify you. You had known Tom for a few years, thanks to your brother. However, you were more than friends. Friends with benefits to be exact, no strings attached.

No one knew about your relationship if you could even call it that, not even Haz. You had agreed to keep it a secret since it started and so far, it was still a little secret that was only known by the two of you. In an outsiders point of view, you two were not even friends since you were only seen together whenever Harrison was around.

Once you walked up to your dorm's door, you took out the keys from your pocket. Your eyes tried to search his, "Come inside?" You asked with a smirk, Tom seemed hesitant, "My roommate's on vacation."

He nodded with a boyish grin. After you closed the door behind you; Tom didn't miss a beat to press you against the door as he connected his lips to yours in a lust-filled kiss. He pinned your arms over your head with one hand, while the other roamed your body slowly. You moaned into the kiss when he started softly massaging your breast.

Tom pulled away and finally let go of your arms as he left open-mouthed kisses along your neck, surely leaving a few purple marks behind. You leaned your head back to grant him more access to your neck. Your hands immediately went to his hair, tugging softly at the hairs on the nape of his neck. He halted his actions for a mere second, "Jump." He whispered.

You did as told and wrapped your legs tightly around his waist. Tom carried you to your bed with ease and slowly put you down, without breaking the entrancing kiss the two of you were sharing. You could taste his cherry chapstick as you ran your tongue over his bottom lip.

He didn't take a second to remove your shirt and attach his lips back to your neck. Tom took his time as he kissed down your neck, to your collarbone, until he reached the valley of your breasts. However, before he could reach behind your back to unclasp your bra with expert hands, a knock was heard on the door. A groan of annoyance escaped your lips, "You gotta be shittin me."

You pecked Tom's lips before you put your shirt back on and tried to accommodate your hair a bit so you could open the door. He got up and casually sat down on the couch, turning on the TV as the person kept pounding on the door. You swung the door open to be met with Zendaya's soft brown eyes, a smile made its way to your face as you greeted your best friend with a hug. All the annoyance fading away just as quick as it arrived.

She walked into the dorm room and greeted Tom, who casually waved from the couch, "I'm so sorry for being a nuisance, but our shower has completely stopped working and I wouldn't ask this but I have an important interview and-"

"Yeah, go ahead Z. You can use my shower." You interrupted her with a smile, knowing very well how embarrassed she was to have to ask you. She left the room and you took a seat next to Tom on the couch, a decent distance between both of you, "Guess we'll have to finish that later princess." He whispered. A blush rising to your cheeks at his comment.

You both silently watched Lost as Zendaya took a shower. Your feet rested on his lap, every now and then he'd tickle your feet causing a giggle to fall out of your lips. It was a cold night, so you were both trying to share a blanket.

Zendaya left pretty quickly, leaving you alone once again, however, you could tell Tom wasn't in the mood anymore and to be honest, neither were you. He got up from the couch, ready to leave, but before he could, you grasped his hand. Tom looked down at you with a small smile.

"Stay? Please." Tom nodded and sat laid back down on the couch next to you. After a few minutes of cuddling, you both fell asleep with the television still playing.

After that, Tom didn't speak to you for the next weeks. Completely avoiding your texts and your calls, you hadn't even seen him in the hallways of the school like you'd do every day. The temptation to talk to him had been strong, but you decided it was better to leave him be, knowing he was still Haz's best friend. He obviously wouldn't avoid you forever.

One morning, you were in the library with Z, Haz and Jacob. You were all studying for your tests. Coffee was in your hands as you read and highlighted all the important information you could find in the digital textbook; Jacob nudged your shoulder, making you look up from your notes. The curve on your lips fell flat as you saw Tom sitting only a few tables away from all of you, kissing a blonde girl you knew from your Psychology class. So that was the reason he was avoiding you...

Haz looked back at you with a sad expression, him being the only one that knew about your true feelings for Tom. You gathered up all your things and got up, "I'll go study in my dorm, it's too loud here." You left in a rush before anyone could protest. You were relieved that your dorm room wasn't that far from the library.

You didn't bother to close the door behind you, knowing perfectly well that your twin brother was following close behind. You plummeted on the couch and let a long sigh escape past your lips. Everything was fine, you weren't going to cry, it wasn't like you two were in a relationship or anything

Haz walked in just a few seconds later, he sat on the couch next to you after dropping his backpack on the entrance of the room. You both stayed silent for a while until your brother spoke up, "Wanna talk?" You shook your head.

You leaned your head on his shoulder and he rubbed your back comfortingly. Of course, Haz didn't know anything about the friends with benefits thing, however, he knew you harvested some feeling for Tom.

A sigh escaped your lips. To everyone's knowledge, Tom was an acquaintance, maybe even a friend, but he wasn't just that anymore. You knew it was dangerous to agree to be friends with benefits, but now you had to accept the consequences.

But then again, if we're not friends,
Someone else might love you too.
And then again, if we're not friends,
There'd be nothing I could do
