One magpie for sorrow
And I never see them in pairs
Maybe I’ll see two tomorrow
But for me that’s rare.
It’s two magpies for joy
At least that’s what they say
But I’m nothing but a decoy,
A pawn in your chess-play.
The window to your soul is your eyes
But this is a monster that you can’t see
Behind my eyes is where the demon hides
And it’ll never leave me be.
Why?
Because that monster is me.
Recently I’ve been feeling sad
Like I’m drowning in despair
Because it’s one magpie for sorrow
And I never see them in pairs.
