She is a grown woman, revered in writing circles, adored by legions of fans, she could make a mean cup of coffee, and she has her life together.

"You shouldn't be hiding", Yue told herself, before taking a deep breath, and then deciding that she should not allow Dong Xin to face the Dragon for her.

His car arriving at Xin and Zhi Ting's house triggered all kinds of alarms in her head and she almost got frozen in the middle of the kitchen so Xin told her to not move a muscle and let her talk to the "unwanted" guest.

But Yue knows even before Wang He Di stepped inside the house that he was there to see her.

And she is not surprised anymore that he found her because the man is the most resourceful son-of-a-gun she has ever known.

It is EVEN possible that her brother could have told the devil where she is.

Sometimes she hates how close their family is because they are bound to know the smallest details about one another.

"Everything you said about me is right", DiDi admitted after the longest bombardment of insults and invectives that Dong Xin has thrown at any person since time immemorial. Her best friend did not hold anything back and regaled the Wang Corp. heir with her knowledge of how he planned to destroy Yue by using her feelings for Zhi Ting to break their friendship up.

That made Yue pause on her way out to the living room.

"I'm an asshole. I'm a leech. I'm shameless. I use people. I am the root of all evil..."

"Still not enough!", her best friend admonished.

DiDi heaved a sigh. "I am worthless, and I am worse than shit and I should be buried over and over again until my bones are pulverized, and worms eat my body."

"It's a good thing you know!"

"I've known it for a long while Dong Xin", there was sadness in his voice and Yue felt it even through the wall that hid her, "I'm not a very good person and what I did to your best friend, what I planned to do to her, what I continued to do to her... all of it is wrong. And I came here to tell her that, to tell you, to tell anyone who I need to ask forgiveness from all of these things that I've done."

"DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE THAT YOU CAN MAKE US – Ah! Wait! You're asking for forgiveness?!?!?!"

She doesn't know whether DiDi nodded or whether there was something that happened because there was a stretch of silence before Xin spoke again.

"Did you hit your head?"

Trust the other woman to relate the biggest epiphany of DiDi's life to him hitting his head.

"I didn't, Xin. And I don't need to hit my head to know that I have gone beyond what I should have –"

"You shouldn't have even gone to that AT ALL!" Xin cut him.

"I really want to talk to Yue. Can you please ask her to talk to me?"

"I'm not sure I can do that", her best friend sighed, "I feel like however the two of you start a conversation, you will just both end up in a shouting match and you can hurt her."

His voice took on a deeper tone. "I can't promise that she won't get hurt when we talk, Xin, but I can promise you that she will know how sorry I am for what I did. Please..."

Yue touched her chest, took a deep breath, and decided it was time for her to show herself to him.

He had his back turned to her but she immediately found her heart beating faster than normal the moment she recognized his strong shoulders and powerful stance, that really cultured and well-mannered air that almost bordered on being aristocratic emanated from him even when she couldn't see his face.
