Now we're running. David has cinda riding on his back, leaving them utterly defenseless if it weren't for me watching out for them. We plunge further into the dark prison, and I swear I can feel the guard's hot breath on my neck.

David comes to a screeching stop, and it's all I can do to stop before slamming into him.

"We're trapped," he whispers.

It takes me a while to figure out what he's talking about. We've run right into a dead end. The only opening is a barred window. I turn around and fit an arrow to my bow. Then the guards come charging straight at us from the darkness.

The next moments pass in a blur. I saw David by my side, and Cinda behind him. I was firing arrows as fast as I could, but I quickly ran out. The guards kept coming. I pull my little knife, my last line of defense, out of my boot. I know that it won't do much good against the guard's guns, but I grab it anyways. I close my eyes and wait for the end.
