I Count the Steps as We Dance

One

Where's the land,

That I dreamed of?

In my hand,

A bird's feather,

To guide me,

On my journey.

Two

Golden leaves

Fall,

Like my heart

When I sit here

Alone,

Away,

From you.

Three

Then,

There was the moon.

As bright

As the eyes

That belonged

To you.

Four

Nervous hands,

Shaking.

Romance,

In the making.

The air is tight,

Like my chest.

Unnerving,

Twirling,

Dancing on stars.

Five

You grabbed,

My hands.

Lifting me,

Up,

From a dust covered

Ballroom floor.

Six

I'm wrapped

In your warmth.

A new home,

A new life,

With dancing

The ribbon.

Seven

I dropped

The feather

And it flew

Away.

It has to guide

Another

Now.

I've found

My destination.
