IF I SHOULD DIE BEFORE I WAKE

In this dream
A thunderclap hammers the landscape
As I stealthily move across the fortress
Of the highlands of the city,
The cityscape below me;

If I should fall before I wake,
Fall the miles to the cement ground –
If I should fall before I wake,
Would I still exist the next dream-day?

The cement in this Dreamworld city
Carries weight and yet the symbols I
Care not for, only that as I hit
The ground, at speeds that defy waking physics,
I would die in the dreamlands, and
So I wonder –

If I should die before I wake,
Would I be cast out of this
Dreamplace for evermore, or would
The Dreamgods grant me rebirth? – I wonder
