SUMMER SUNDAY AFTERNOON

Red roses blossom
Poke-a-dotted dresses
Fluffy summer hats

Sweat pours
Air-conditioner swallows
Electricity

Pools with wet water
Balls bounce
Upon the asphalt

Beaches open
Sun beats down
Feet burn on the sand

Love blossoms
In the parks
In the afternoon

A walk through the swallows
A deep breath in the shade
A look of content

It is a beginning
A season to remember
A time for forgetting

Forgetting the winter
Forgetting the cold
And the heartbreaks

Forgetting what once was
And will be again
In all too short a time
