Your Pov:

I sighed in annoyance as my advisor drones on and on. I was getting a new dress fitted. My advisor continued to fret, "Oh, we're late, late, late! We have twenty, maximum twenty-two minutes for your royal fitting! And then it's move, move, move to your speech at the Historical Society!" He continued, "After that we have to rush, and I mean rush to the Horticultural Society Tea! And then there's your Math lesson, your Geography lessons, your Science lessons..." I ignored him and walked away, muttering to myself, "All my life I've always wanted to have one day just for me! Nothing to do and for once nowhere I need to be! With no lessons, lords, or lunches! Or to-do list in the way. No one to say when to eat or read or leave or stay." I sighed, "That would be the day..."

I sat down in front of my vanity, and looked into the mirror, "What would it be like to be free?" I stood up amd walked to the balcony. The air was fresh, "Free to try crazy things! Free to fly! And marry whom I choose!" I looked into the garden and saw Miles writing in his journal. My mother followed me out onto the balcony, "I'm so sorry, my darling. But as you know, it is vital you marry King Phoenix. It is the only way to take care of our people." I sighed. The kingdom needed money and it was the only way.

I nodded, "I know. It's my duty." She ushered me inside. She smiled as a servant handed her another wrapped box, "Oh! And look! Another engagement gift!" I looked at all the different presents. They were from different kingdoms which meant all kinds of responsibilities if I accept them. I looked around, "You would think that I'm so lucky! That I have so many things; I'm realizing that every present comes with strings!"

The wall was lined with engagement gifts. I was getting overwhelmed by all of it, "Now I fear I'll never be...free." I left the room and walked out to the courtyard. I took a deep breath as I thought to myself, 'I close my eyes and
feel myself fly a thousand miles away. I could take flight, but would it be right? My conscience tells me stay!' I shook my head and smiled. I'll remain forever royal! Duty means doing the things your heart may well regret! But I'll never stop believing! There's more to living than gloves and gowns! And threads and seams! In my dreams, I'll be free!

I headed back to my room to prepare for my lessons. However, no matter what I tried, my thoughts would keep wondering to Miles. I wanted to be with him so badly, but I had a responsibility to my people and kingdom. So even though it hurts me to marry someone I don't love, I have to go through with it.
