True to her words, Kagome did help Mei build back Kirigakure. When Yagura woke up from all the wounds he had, he was shocked to see Kagome preparing dinner right next to him.

"K-kagome-sama...I'm sorry for being so weak."That was the first sentence he said to Kagome. Yagura was always watching in his mind as the genjutsu was controlling his body. Yagura experienced guilt toward Kagome, but even more toward the village. It pained him to see the village he loved thrown to chaos because of him. He felt a warm hand cupping his face, making him face Kagome in the eyes.

"It's alright, Yagura. I know you never wanted this to happen."Kagome gave him a closed-eye smile and helped nursed Yagura back to health.

When she brought back Yagura to the village and to Mei's office, Mei was automatically on her feet. Kagome rushed to settle things between them, Yagura bow to Mei to apologize for his actions. They agreed that Yagura would work under as the village's shadow to protect Kiri. Kagome was happy to see Yagura back to normal and helping around with Mei. Mei grew to enjoy Kagome's and Yagura's company, feeling as though they were family.

One day as they were strolling down the village (with Yagura having a mask on), Mei asked Kagome a question.

"Hey, Kagome. I always wondered. How do you know Yagura?"

Kagome smiled and said, "Well it was back when he only a child."

Flashback

Kagome was near a small village when an explosion occurred. Smoke and fire were burning down the village as she rushed in to see if anyone needed help. She covered her nose to prevent the smoke coming into her lungs. 'Whoever started the fire, this was clearly not an accident.'

She quickly weaved some hand-signs with her left hand, shouting out, "Water Style: Rampaging water!"

Water shot through her mouth to cover the area. The fire died down and thankfully no one was too hurt. Kagome was relieved that no one had any serious injuries, just some scratches, and bruises. The village head rushed to thank her for her help with the other villagers.

"Thank you for helping us, miss. We are thankful for your service", as the village head bows to her.

"It's no problem. I'm afraid the village is a bit damaged by the fire though."

Kagome felt a tug on to her coat when she looked down to see a young boy, no older than six, smiled widely at her. He had green hair with pink eyes staring at her with admiration.

"Miss! You were so cool! I want to be just like you, a ninja!" He shouted out loud with glee.

As Kagome smiled down at the little boy, she heard whispers surrounding her about the kid.

"It's that disgusting brat."

"Why is he still alive?"

"He probably started the fire. He's bad luck anyway."

Kagome frowned at the remarks the villagers were giving to the boy. What had the boy done to deserve this treatment? He's still a child yet he was given this sort of treatment.

"What is your name, child?"

"Yagura, miss!"

Yagura was happy that someone was finally talking to him with kindness, not with the regular harshness from the villagers. He admired how fast Kagome worked to help people and wished that he could be just like her. Kagome's heart softened when she saw how pure he was. She put her hand on his forehead to heal his scratches. She noticed there was a different chakra inside of him all along! He was a  jinchuriki, the holder of the three-tails. Kagome sensed a powerful charka when she was near the village, but when she got closer, it disappeared. No wonder the villagers treated Yagura so harsh. She pities him for having that burden of hate surrounding him.

"I have to go now. I'm glad I was able to help." Kagome nodded her head to the villagers and shunshin to the forest.  She continues to walk toward to the North when she felt a certain charka following her.

"Come on out, Yagura. I know you'll behind that bush."

Yagura walked out of the bush embarrassed to be caught. "Wow, you really are amazing."

"What do you need? Why don't you return back home?" Kagome smiled at the little boy, but she knew the real reasons why he ran away.

"The villagers are mean to me and I don't really have a home, "Yagura looked at the ground shifting his small feet, "You're the only person that actually was nice to me.  And I want you to teach me how to be ninja, please."

Kagome knew how a jinchuriki's life is. Filled with loneliness if they never meet the right people. She knew that Yagura had the talent to be a great shinobi and maybe even help him control the three-tails that was in him.

"Then follow me, Yagura. You'll never learn if you don't catch up to me."

Yagura beamed with happiness and ran up to Kagome's side.

Flashback End

"I taught him some jutsus and trained him until he was a teen where I dropped him here. Kiri never really judged who you were so I thought it was a good place for Yagura to find a home. I visited from time to time, but the last time I visited was when he first became the Mizukage. I never knew things who become like this." Kagome finished up her story to Mei.

"Wow. I guess you are really powerful," Mei said with respect to her tone of voice.

Kagome blushed a bit to hear a compliment so bluntly about her. Yagura's cheek was also a bit red since Kagome told Mei how he was as a child. Mei stopped in her tracks when she just thought of something that didn't match the story.

"Wait, if you took care of Yagura as a kid and he is like in his thirties, how are you still looking like you're in your twenties?" Mei was majorly confused at this discovery.

Kagome chuckled awkwardly replying back to Mei's question, "Well I guess you could say I don't really age."

"Then you're actually-"

"Yeah, I'm over a hundred years old."

Mei backed away with shock in her face. How in the world was Kagome still looking so young and why isn't she dead?

Yagura spoke softly, "It was shocking for me as well when I learned that Kagome-sama was that old too."

Kagome blooped Yagura's head with her fist, "I'm not that old, kid."

Yagura rubbed his head," Yeah, not that old..."

"Then how are you still alive and looking so young?"Mei asked with curiosity.

"You can say that my soul is not ready to leave this world yet."

Kagome ended that conversation. They started to head back to Mei's office, seeing that everything in the village was steadily going back normal.

'Sometimes I wonder if not aging is a curse or a blessing. However, I still have one mission to fulfill. I will not stop fighting until I can complete my goal.'
