Day 06 | The Cure to Anxiety

We're all looking for a cure to our ailment, are we not. Looking for that "thing" that will bring instant relief to our anxiety or get us out of the season. Cures are hard to come by but we do find one for anxiety in Luke 12.

In this passage, Jesus is sharing with his disciples on the topic of anxiety. He references the birds and the grass--God takes care of them. And if God takes care of them, how much more will He take care of you!

Worry and anxiety don't add any value and only rob today of it's value. In fact, Jesus says he knows what you need. God knows you need that job, or reconciliation after that fight, or finances for that bill. Yes, indeed pray for what you need but don't let the worry of what might happen drive you to a place of distraction.

Instead, fix your eyes on the Father and He will take care of all of these things. If you need a reminder in this, go back to day 3.

So, what's the cure?

1. Remember that God already has your needs in mind. (v. 30)
2. Set your focus on Him. (v. 31)
3. Store up your treasures in Heaven. (v. 33)

At the core of this cure is keeping Christ at the center!

Reading:
"Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Therefore, I say to you, don't worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear. There is more to life than food and more to the body than clothing. Consider the ravens: they neither plant nor harvest, they have no silo or barn, yet God feeds them. You are worth so much more than birds! Who among you by worrying can add a single moment to your life? If you can't do such a small thing, why worry about the rest? Notice how the lilies grow. They don't wear themselves out with work, and they don't spin cloth. But I say to you that even Solomon in all his splendor wasn't dressed like one of these. If God dresses grass in the field so beautifully, even though it's alive today and tomorrow it's thrown into the furnace, how much more will God do for you, you people of weak faith! Don't chase after what you will eat and what you will drink. Stop worrying. All the nations of the world long for these things. Your Father knows that you need them. Instead, desire his kingdom and these things will be given to you as well. "Don't be afraid, little flock, because your Father delights in giving you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to those in need. Make for yourselves wallets that don't wear out—a treasure in heaven that never runs out. No thief comes near there, and no moth destroys. Where your treasure is, there your heart will be too." Luke‬ ‭12:22-34‬ ‭CEB‬‬
