At Middletown

The first money
Was trade-
Your worth for mine
My worth for yours

*Clank-clank*

The next money
Was exchange
Sub yours for gold
Sub mine with coin

*Kacha-kacha*

The next money
Was evolved
Gold worth is gone
Silver's minted rise

*Jingle-jingle*

And money kept changing
Now contending
For most buys and sells
For politik power;

Reflection.

Wealth was once handfolds
Now it's real and untold-
Intangible-
Accumulating.

*Cha-ching*

Sustainable
But not just for sustaining;

Image
and Luxury.

*Chiink*

Wealth now spent for
Pleasure
Basic needs meant to be met.

*Trii-ling*

Those who use
Wealth
For one's better
Is ranked "poor" or "common".

This is the Age we live in
When values are not taught till needed
Of bread
And leisure goods.

An age of blessings and splendor
When dying out forgotten is harder
But still present-
Though no one notes.

*Ka-ching*

No one likes to remember
To be told,
"Share. Have. Love."

*Ping*

Gratitude is even wanting
Due to ignorance
Lack of have/not chancing
To see disparity of wealth

Assets, property
Jewels and relics
Coins and bills
Business, legacies

*Frrr-lp*

Pretty to the eye antiques now are
Simplicity does well
As it did for us.
