I trudged through the woods to meet Tova at our usual spot. Despite the many lessons I have had with her, I still do not have my magic. None of her lessons seem to be about magic at all actually. All of it is just dumb mediation.

How is that suppose to help my magic? It's been three weeks and I am ready for some results. When I got closer to our spot, I noticed a wide arrangement of candles. Great, more pointless mediation. For once could we do something cool? I stopped right in front of her and she removed her cloak and smiled,

"Evening, Olivia." She greets.

"Evening," I reply back and her eyebrows narrow slightly

"Is something bothering you?"

"Well, I'm just wondering when we will get to the real stuff. All we've been doing is mediation. It's been three weeks and I still don't have my magic."

"Patience is a virtue." Tova smiles as she turns around and lights the last candle. I roll my eyes, seems to me like you can't hold up your end of the deal.

"Now, you know how we start. Give me your hands."

"Look, I'm all for some mediation but I want some actual proof that this is working or else I'm leaving," I demand with folding arms. The amount of sneaking out and lying about my whereabouts was starting to be pointless if nothing is actually happening. Tova lowers her hands and shakes her head,

"Magic requires a clear conscience and heart. Your mind and heart are in complete disarray with all the anger, pain and sorrow you have. That is why you cannot do magic right now."

"No, I can't do magic because of those hell-bent revenge seeking parents. It has nothing to do with my mental state."

"Ah, that's where you're wrong."

"Or maybe I was wrong to think you'd actually do what you promise," I reply back and turn around to leave.

"Fine, you want absolute results. Tell me about Adam." Tova cuts in. I stop midway in my tracks. I turn around to face her slowly,

"What does Adam have to do with this?"

"Well, it was his parents that did that to you right? It all seems to tie back to him."

"Stop, Adam he...he just hurt me."

"It's more than that and you know it." Tova pressed as she inched forward. Her sudden mention of his name plunged me into my memories of Adam. I thought back to our first date, how we danced and had an experience like no other. Then it switched like a flip to his look of disdain as he ordered his village to attack me. I shook my head,

"You're trying to distract me, this has nothing to do with Adam-"

"How did Adam make you feel?" Tova cuts in

"Uh...hurt."

"What else."

"Nothing else...just pain."

"Adam did more than just hurt you. What else?"

"Stop," I grumble as I feel the urge to shut my eyes and ears. Her sudden urge for questioning made me angry. Talking about Adam isn't going to make my magic come back.

"What else did Adam do to you, Olivia? He did more damage than just a simple love lost. What else!"

"He made me question myself! He made me think less about myself and...he made me feel so lost." I admit with my eyes closed tightly. I breathed in and out as the truth finally came out my lips. Adam didn't just hurt me, he is the only person who has made me want to revoke a side of myself just to make him happy.
