I walked through the woods as I glanced at my map a few times. This was where the calling sent me? This can't be right, there is no village here. No cursed would hide in plain sight. I stuffed the map in my back pocket and walked a little farther with my axe in hand. I scanned the area, perhaps the cursed is dumb enough to be in its natural state running around in the woods. Wouldn't I hear it by now? I heard the faint splash of water and headed in that direction.

I pushed the bushes aside, and my eyes widened. It was not a cursed standing in the lake but a woman. She had long brown hair that was now soaking wet. It laid flat on her back as she cleaned herself. Her back was turned, so I had no idea what her face looked like. She was humming a little tune as she absentmindedly bathed unaware that I was watching. I felt like a creep, so I turned to leave when I stepped on a twig. The woman gasped, and I closed my eyes tightly. Well, now she's definitely going to think I was watching her,

"Who goes there?" she questions. Her voice was kind of cute. I turned around slowly and see that she has covered herself as best as she could. But I could still see her wet navel and her glaring brown eyes. I cleared my throat,

"Uh, I wasn't spying my lady. I was just-"

"You were just watching me bathe. Right." the woman cuts in, and I can't help but smile at her snarky remark. She treads through the water and goes for her clothes,

"If you don't mind," she snaps, and I quickly turn around.

"Right, sorry." After a few moments, she lets me know I could turn around. I turn around and find her in an unflattering miller gown. She was too beautiful to be a simple village girl. I assumed she was a princess. She gave me a look,

"Admiring my gown?" I chuckled

"Forgive me, I just thought you were a princess or something."

"Why would you think that?" she questions as she steps forward

"Well, I wouldn't expect this amount of beauty from a peasant girl." She scoffed,

"What kind of compliment was that? Beauty comes in all shapes and forms, get over yourself," she comments before walking past me. I found myself intrigued by this small woman. She didn't talk to me with her head down like many of the other submissive village women. She was a proud woman, and that is what I like in a lady. I jogged a little behind her,

"Ah, we've escalated to stalking I see."

"Uh, no. I'm not trying to stalk you. I just want to know if you would be open to grabbing a pint with me at the tavern?" She stopped walking and turned around,

"Why would a hunter want to ask a peasant on a date?" she questions with narrow eyes. God, she was attractive. Wait how did she know I was a hunter?

"How did you know I was a-"

"Those tribal marks weren't just tattooed on. They were given to you by the same people that created you." I narrowed my eyes at her. She knew a little too much for just a village girl.

"How do you know so much?" I question as my body tenses as I grip the axe in my left hand. She takes notice and instead of gawking in fear she laughs. Instead of feeling threatened, I look at her confused,

"Calm down, I do my reading. If you get tense like that just from answering your questions then maybe you shouldn't be courting woman. If you'll excuse me." she remarks as she turns around.

"Wait, I'm sorry. It's just people don't really know that much about hunters. I'm surprised your not scared of me."

"What would I have to be scared of? I'm not a cursed."
