It was pouring down rain outside, and usually, that would ruin my day, but it actually made my day better. I could stay in and work more on the book that I found. I still haven't told Drax about it because I didn't want him to worry. He may think the book is evil or something, but I know that isn't. I sat in our room, while he had classes with Aunty A, and tried my best to understand the book. It has a whole bunch of pages with no words or phrases in it. How exactly am I supposed to use this thing? I opened the book to the second page,
"If you are finding this book or this book has found you then that means you have been chosen." I read out loud. Chosen for what? I flipped to the next page, but it was blank much like the rest of the pages. I groan in frustration and shut the book. Someone cleared their throat, and I looked up in horror. Who could have walked in on me? It was just our nanny, Matilda, she stared down at the book and then back at me.
"Whatcha reading there?" she asked in her thick western accent. Since we were in the North, her West accent stands out from her regular appearance.
"Nothing." I lie. Matilda raised her eyebrow and stepped closer. I tried to make a grab for the book before she got too close, but she grabbed it first.
"You know I know a lie when I hear one." she scolds as she holds the thick book in her hands. Her eyebrows twitched, and her hand went to her nose. Right on cue, blood seeped down her nose and on to the book. She gasped and dropped the book right on the floor. She hastily pulled out a handkerchief and dabbed her nose,
"The air must be exceptionally dry," she whispered as she excuses herself out the room. I eyed the book curiously, did her nose bleed the moment she touched it? Could the book be responsible? Maybe the book was evil? I pondered as I waved my hand over it to make the book disappear.
"Hey, Liv!" Drax shouts from the door. I perch my head up
"Yeah?"
"You gotta come to see this!" he smiles as he takes off running. I sprint after him as he races down the halls. I've never seen him move this fast before, it must be critical. I tried to speed up to match his speed, but he was too fast. Finally, he stopped running, and I also stopped to catch my breath.
"Isn't it beautiful?" he sighed. I looked around the room in horror. The room was covered in blood like people were murdered in there or something. I licked my lips and gulped down as much air as I could. Who would do this? What is this?
"I-I don't understand," I stutter.
"It's chaos. Beautiful, sweet and unique chaos. Do you know what makes this even more amazing?" Drax asks as his eyes remained fixed on this bloody mess. I remained silent,
"It's the chaos that you will create," he answers and then I bolt awake. I hold my chest and breathe in and out. My room is pitch black, and from what I can hear, I am entirely alone. I look down at my trembling hands and try to wipe the sweat off my forehead. That dream felt so real and lifelike. The door to our room opened, and I looked up to see my mother step in. She walked over to Drax bed and placed a kiss on his head, I guess I'm not alone after all.
"What's the matter sweetie had a bad dream?" she utters lowly, and I couldn't tell if she was talking to me or not.
"Yes," Drax answers her in his monotoned voice. He was awake? Why couldn't I sense that?
"Olivia, you too?"
"Yes," I whisper back.
"Would you both like to sleep with us?"
"Yes," we both answered. Mommy chuckled and told us to come on. We both hopped out our beds and walked to her room. We didn't utter a word to one another nor did we even look at each other.
