We combed through the woods for what felt like hours. There was no sign of them anywhere. But they couldn't have just disappeared. People don't just disappear unless they were either dead or didn't want to be found. Three children couldn't have vanished into thin air. It didn't make any sense. Halfway into our search, it started raining. The need to find them escalates. They cannot stay out here in the cold rain.
They could freeze from having a wet body while cool air blows on them. I kept running past each tree as I sniffed. I know the smell of my pups, I didn't need a personal item of theirs to pinpoint them out. A whoosh went right past me and knew it was Damien. He stops in front of me, and I shove my claws into the muddy soil to slow myself. I stop right in front of him, and he gives me a look while holding my gown. I shifted back, and he helped me dress. Once I was finished, I looked at him,
"Did we find them?" He shook his head,
"No, we didn't." Another whoosh comes from behind me, and I knew it to be Jace.
"Then why are we stopping?"
"Because it's raining and it's throwing off our scents," Jace answers as he steps closer to the two of us.
"And that's why we can't just stop looking. The kids could be cold and wet or scared. We have to find them." I encourage as I feel myself about to hyperventilate.
"We will find the kids. I promise, but we have to get out of this rain." Damien tried as he placed his hands on my shoulders. They weren't out here. What if the council lied? What if there never was a fight and they just killed our babies on sight? The council was exceptionally good at burying things and making them disappear. Could they have killed my babies? I felt the world crash around as my chest heaved up and down.
"Addeline, just breathe," Damien comments concerned as he pulls me into him.
"I'm scared too." I heard Jace groan in frustration,
"Of course my Gaia gets tangled in your twin's mess." I turn around sharply,
"Excuse me?"
"What was she doing fighting the council? Now she's wanted by the fucking council for a crime that had nothing to do with her! It's always the twins bringing something horrible into our lives. When Selles first came here, I bet he was looking for Olivia, not Gaia. She was who he was here for originally, but of course, he took her instead."
"Because of that mix-up, I lost my wife! I lost my partner because of them. And now, your son kills someone, and my daughter just feels the need to defend him! How can neither of you see that they bring darkness into our lives? All the problems and all the aftermath starts with them. It's nonsense!" Jace shouts as his dagger glare at the two of us.
"Oh, you've been holding that in for some time now huh?" I growl
"Guys, none of this is going to help us find them any faster. We have to put our problems aside-"
"Our twins are not responsible for this mess. If anything most of this is your fault!"
"My fault?!"
"If you hadn't laughed in their faces about trying to help maybe they would've been more open to sharing what happened that night. But no, Jace has to worry about Jace. Jace has to make everyone in the entire house feel inferior because he can't even comprehend the truth. Alina is gone. That was the choice she made, and you hate it."
"You would choose your wife over your own child. Stop blaming my daughter for a decision that your wife forced her to make! Alina chose to save her daughter just like Gaia chose to save her cousin because you risk your life for your family. Its called Loyalty something you've lacked since the moment Alina left us." Jace looked at me for a moment before nodding his head and whipping his wet hair out of his face. Within a second he rushed off. I turned to see Damien looking at me,
