"Fear cuts deeper than swords." - George R.R Martin
Wicked, nefarious, vile, and malicious are just a few of the words used to describe a cursed. But what is a cursed? A cursed being is a mixture of both vampire and wolf DNA. They are stronger and f...
"I hate to sound like that guy but have we thought about what we are going to do if Olivia doesn't wake up?" I ask as we stand in the lake armed with sticks to grab some fish for breakfast.
"I don't want to talk about that." My mother comments as she jams her stick in the water but comes up empty-handed.
"It's just we haven't discussed that since we've been here."
"Drax," My mother warns
"Look, Olivia has been breathing which is good except for the last two weeks all she's been doing is just small breaths. She hasn't eaten, used the bathroom and other completely normal things that our body needs to do. So yes she is breathing but her organs could be shutting down for all we know-"
"Drax that's enough." My mother cuts in with her red eyes glaring at me. I sigh and rub my hand over my mouth.
"I want Olivia to be alive just as much as you do but it's been a month mom." My mother trudged out the shallow river and made her way back to the cave without so much as another glance at me. I make my way out the river as well and see Gaia sitting on the edge of the river bank looking out at the horizon. I threw my stick aside and sat down beside her,
"If we lost Olivia due to some prejudice idiots, I don't think I would okay," Gaia admits. I look over at her and notice her looking completely straight with her knees tucked in under her chin. I dry swallowed as I turned to look out as well.
"I know I wouldn't be. She's my sister and no matter how much we fight I still love her."
"I know you do." Gaia finally turns her head to look at me,
"How do you think we got here? Out of all the things that should or could've happened in our lives...how do we end up here?" I turned over to look at her and then cast my eyes aside. Often I wonder what would have happened in our lives if I hadn't killed Julianna, Selles wasn't after us, and we just lived as a normal royal family does. How would we have turned out? Would it save our parents the heartache?
"Kids! I found bread." My mother calls so Gaia and I stood and went back to the cave.
"What do you mean found bread?" I question but as I looked over her bloody hands and gown I knew she had killed for it. I went by the fire and sat down,
"Nevermind, I'm not hungry." My mother gave a third of the bread to Gaia and then sat by me. She tore a piece off and gave it to me but I ignored her.
"Look, I know human food is not as appealing but-"
"It's not that it's human food."
"Then take it."
"How many more people are going to die just to wait around to see if my sister is dead?"
"I told you, I didn't want to talk about that."
"Ok fine. Let's talk about how many people have ended up dead since we got here. Let's see we have the group of hunters, the family by the river, the person you stole the bread from...am I missing someone?" I reply spitefully while looking over at my mother. Her cursed had returned as her red eyes stared me down,
"Fine, no breakfast for you," she growled before standing and moving to where Olivia laid. She sat by her head and slowly rubbed her hair. I sighed and watched the fire crackle.
