"No, it needs to be special. It needs to click." Marilynn explained before her bottom lip started to tremble. "I have nothing prepared...I only have what? Maybe three weeks and I don't even have any clothes or toys!" A few tears streamed down her face before she dropped her head into her hands. "I'm going to make a terrible mother."

Her quiet sobs filled the kitchen. I stared at her, wanting to comfort her, but I couldn't let on that we were mates in front of her sister. Isabella was already getting suspicious with me being around more often and honestly, I'm just not ready to publicly be with Marilynn. There'll be more threats from outside the pack, but also inside the pack for us to mate properly and have more kids. It was just not a road I wanted to go down at the moment.

Luckily, Isabella came to Marilynn's other side and helped calm her down. After a few minutes, Marilynn was smiling again and continued with her food.

Once we all finished eating, Isabella excused herself leaving Marilynn and I to do the dishes. Well more like left me to do the dishes since I didn't want Marilynn hurting herself somehow. She happily sat at the island telling me a few stories about her childhood.

"There was the one time, I don't know we were probably 13? Anyways, Izzy stole my eyeliner and I totally freaked. It's harder to control magic when you're in your teens since puberty is already a rollercoaster of hormones, but I started chasing Izzy around the house with throwing these energy orbs at her." Marilynn paused for a moment while she created one in her hand to show me. "I use them often because they don't take any spells and they sting like a bitch. Anyways, I started throwing these at her, but kept missing. I was breaking things all over the house." She laughed before continuing. "But then I finally hit Izzy and she ended up falling down the stairs. Luckily, her fast healing had already kicked in, but that didn't save me from trouble. I ended having to clean the whole entire pack house for a month! It was the worse!"

Marilynn sighed dramatically before giggling again at the memory. I laughed along, these twins seemed to be a handful.

"Sounds like the pack had some trouble controlling you two." I commented as I finished up the last dish before coming to stand across from her at the island.

"Yeah, but I liked messing with them because they didn't like me anyways." She shrugged.

I nodded.

"Hey, I was wondering," I started. "If maybe you wanted to go out tonight?"

"Where? Like a date?" Her eyes widened while she looked at me for answers.

"Yeah, and it's a surprise, just wear something nice." I smiled at her little blush, giving her a small kiss before leaving to plan the date.

This will be fun.

The night fell slower than I hoped. I had spent all day planning our night and was itching to see Marilynn. Luckily, Isabella and Liam had gone out earlier in the day, so I didn't have to worry about them seeing us together. It was just the rest of the pack in the pack house. They're always looking for some good drama.

I told Marilynn to meet outside the back entrance of the pack house around seven in the evening. I really hoped this worked out well considering I didn't know what else I could do as a gesture of apology.

I made my way around the side of the house and quickly saw Marilynn sitting at the bottom of the stairs. She was wringing her hands and tapping her foot gently, but the moment she saw me, she let out of breath of relief. Once I was standing in front of her, I grabbed her hands and gently helped her to her feet.

"And I thought I would be the nervous one." I joked.

Marilynn smiled softly before looking down.
