After staring at the black tv for a while, I gathered myself and walked down the hall adjacent to the living room and into my bedroom. The light blue walls calmed my racing heart as I changed out of my pajama pants and into leggings. Grabbing my hoodie and car keys, I glance at the clock.

It was nearly midnight, but I felt like I needed to tell my sister immediately, it was only fair if she knew as well.

I make my way to my car and start the long drive to the address my sister had given me when she first started dating Liam. The dark, empty streets of Edmonton matched my emotions of despair. The emptiness of the streets matched the empty feeling in my chest knowing someone I loved so deeply, is no longer in my life.

Flashback

I hid behind the bookshelf as my twelve year old self was shaking with fear, not wanting to get caught for hurting my sister.

"Marilynn, come out right now and apologize to your sister," Ms. Rosemary's voice carried through the house. When she knew I wasn't budging, she spoke again. "Come out now or I will be calling your mother."

That got me to stand from my hiding spot and step out in front of a teary eyed Isabella and a disappointed nanny.

"I'm sorry, Izzy. I didn't mean to...I-I just got so mad that you took my eyeliner. I don't know what came over me. I'm really sorry." I spoke, avoiding eye contact.

Soon enough I was embraced in an all too familiar hug.

"It's ok, Mary. I know it's hard to control sometimes." Izzy smiled at me while I gave her a small smile back before looking to Ms. Rosemary.

She sighed and shook her head before she spoke.

"Marilynn, I know you are young and still learning how to control your powers, but you are a witch because you are here to protect your sister. You are her guardian, don't forget. You need to start taking your role more seriously and keeping up with your studies or I'll have no choice, but to send you to your mother's coven to learn."

I nodded at Ms. Rosemary and gave her a small smile.

"I promise, I won't hurt Izzy ever again. I'll protect her from everything." I vowed and look towards Isabella.

"Well until I find my mate!" Isabella gushed. "Then you get to do anything you want and won't have to worry about me."

We all laughed and said goodnight before heading to our rooms.

I shake the memories from head as my GSP signals my arrival. I look around and all I see is endless forest on both of my sides before I spot a gravel road. My instincts tell me that's where Izzy is, so I turn onto the road and drive slowly into the dark forest.

Within minutes I'm driving through quite a large community of houses and stores. That's when it hits me.

"Fuck." I mutter.

I now realize I am on pack grounds and they will know of an unknown member, like myself, crossing into their lands. I calm myself down and continue driving towards the large mansion I spotted a minute prior.

Considering it's almost two in the morning, I assumed it would be dark, but many lights were still on and it seemed like many of the teens were still awake.

I sighed and made my way to the door as an uneasy feeling came over me. Meaning Izzy was in distress, I rapidly knocked on the door until a young boy, no older than sixteen, opened it, looking confused.

"Who are you?" He asked.

"I'm looking for my sister." I respond.

"Ok well you're not part of the pa-... You're not allowed here." He corrected himself. I rolled my eyes. Of course this boy wouldn't know I was a supernatural too, only high ranked wolves can detect witches, but he must know I'm not entirely human based off my scent.

"Her name is Isabella and she's here with Liam." I answered again.

"Beta Liam?" He questioned.

"Beta? Are you fucking kidding me?" I groaned. I could feel a migraine already starting. How could she be dating a Beta? Goddess, I'm a terrible guardian for not meeting him sooner. "Just let me in." I snapped as an invisible force shoved him away and I rushed in.

Looking around, the first thing you notice is the size. This place was more than a mansion, it's practically a five star hotel! Everything was done to perfection, but I didn't have time to ponder.

"Hey! You can't be in here!" The boy shouted, making others turn in my direction looking apprehensive.

I ignored the boy and the stares as I rushed towards the elegant staircase separating two hallways. Unfortunately, a large body stepped in my way first.

"I thought I smelt a witch in my pack." The body growled.

I rolled my eyes. Great, an Alpha.

"Listen, I'm just here to get-" My voice caught in my throat as I look up at the man standing in front of me and into his dark green eyes.

His gorgeous green eyes were accompanied with dark, neatly shaped eyebrows and slight bangs that crossed his forehead. Moving down, he had plump, pink lips that were begging to be touched as they were slightly parted in shock.

"Mate." He barely whispered.

What? Mate? How is that possible?

"I ca-" I was cut off by a loud scream coming from somewhere in the house. My heart sped up and I shoved any thoughts of my mate away.

Isabella was in trouble.
