Chapter 16: Take all that I have

Start from the beginning

"Look, my children are-"

"Are suffering from a vicious cold. But we promise to handle all your problems when we return." Damien cuts in as he enters the room. A bad cold? The crowd mummer and slowly head out the door. I turn to him,

"A cold? Why didn't we just tell them the truth?" I whispered to him, and he threw me a look,

"Because we don't know who could be feeding information to the council. We tell the citizens that the kids are missing and that would just give the council a leg up on how to find them. They have more men and power than us and could do who knows what with that information. We can not trust anyone but the people in this house." He replies, and I look away, I hate when he's right. I noticed a woman still standing in the courtroom. What is with these people?

"Um ma'am, court is suspended for today," I reply to the hooded woman, and she reached up to take her hood off. My eyes widened in shock,

"Rose?" She smiled

"Addeline, long time no see."

"What are you doing-"

"Se pou nou fe sa yo dwe fe." Rose chanted. We both looked between each other, was that supposed to do something to us? The courtroom door opened,

"Are we finding the kids or not?" Jace questions

"Se pou nou fe sa yo dwe fe." Rose chanted a little louder. Jace looked over at her,

"Is that Rose?"

"Alright that enough, your little magic is not working," I comment as I cross the courtroom

"Se pou nou fe sa yo dwe fe!" She shouts, and I halt in my steps. I tried to move but I couldn't.

"What did you do to my body?" I groan

"I like to call it a stuck spell. Because you know your all stuck." Rose smiles, and I roll my eyes.

"Yes, real clever. Now lets us go."

"Yeah, you've had your fun."

"Oh, this was just the setup."

"Set up?" The courtroom door opens, and a figure holds their arms out,

"Ah, what a lovely castle this is." The figure proclaims as they step more inside the room. Once the figure came more into the light, I saw it was Selles. For once I am happy the kids are nowhere to be found.

"Nice work, Rose." He comments as he places a hand on her shoulder.

"Let me see if I can get this right, your Addeline right?" he questions with a smile as he points to me.

"Fourth bloodline huh." Fourth? He must not know my true heritage. That could be used at my advantage.

"And you two are Jace and Damien. The two idiots living with an abomination and I don't just mean those demon spawns." He chuckled

"So you came here just to taught us?"

"Where are those little kiddies? That little daughter of yours used quite a bit of strength," he smirks as he walks past me and ignores my question.

"They aren't here. So you wasted your time." Damien growls

"Well actually, I'm not here for them. Not yet anyway. I'm here for someone who I thought I would never see again. A woman, that I think you know Jace." I narrowed my eyebrows,

"What is he talking about?" I question

"Ah, I see you haven't talked about that yet. I'll let you dish that story out but in the meantime, where is Alina."

"I'll never tell you." Jace snarls as Selles laughs.

"Well it's a good thing, I can just look for her then."

"The staff would never-"

"Oh did I forget to mention that you three aren't the only ones stuck? My bad." Rose smirks, and I feel my stomach churn in fear. What did he want with Alina? Or worse what would he do to her?

"Well if you guys will excuse me," Selles replies as his footsteps ascend up our stairs.

"Alina!" I can hear him call.

"Jace, what would Selles want with Alina?!" Jace remained silent.

"Jace if you know something then tell us," Damien adds. Still, Jace remained silent. We listened as Selles called out Alina's name until he didn't.

"He found her." I murmur under my breath. After a few moments, we heard heavy footsteps coming down the stairs, and then the side doors reopened.

"Wait! Selles, please. Don't take her, she's all I have." Jace plead

"She was all I had a long time ago. You took her from me, and now I'm taking my woman back."

"She's my wife! The mother of my child. You can't just take her."

"She was supposed to be my wife!" he boomed. Selles and Alina? Why am I the first to hear about this? His anger made the room shake as he walked over in my direction,

"Consider this as a gift. Because at this very moment, I could each and every one of you but I won't. Not yet, I want your children to be present when I rip your hearts out each of ya'll chest. And just when you're about to die, I will tear your children apart." he threatens as he stands side by side with Rose. Alina's body was dangled in his arms,

"Rose,"

"En Dugas" Rose replied, and they both vanished. I regained my footing and looked around before Jace bolted out the door,

"Alina!" he screamed. Damien and I rushed out behind him.

"Alina!" he screamed loudly as he turned around in circles.

"Jace." I start

"Alina!"

"Jace, they're gone." Damien finishes for me. Jace swallowed hard as his wide blue eyes frantically looked around. It was almost as if he expected them to reappear in this very spot.

"She...she can't be gone." He finally answers as his voice breaks

"Jace we'll find her-"

"No no no! She can't be- She was all I had left! She was all I-" he shudders as he collapses on his knees.

"She's all I had left," he whispered as he stared down at the ground. Damien went to his brother's side.

"We will find Alina, and we will find Gaia. Everything is gonna be-"

"Alina and Gaia were all that I had. And now both of them are gone. Both of them-" he breathed out as his body shook. I didn't know if he was shaking from rage or from pain. Maybe a mix of both. He continued to breathe heavily before he broke out in heartbreaking sobs.
