Chapter 12: Help to the Rescue?

Start from the beginning

"You skipped by yourself," I ask.

"It doesn't matter. It's not like my father gives a rats ass about where I am."

"You watch your mouth young lady." Uncle Jace growls as he steps closer. Gaia moved past us and stepped into her father's face with her fist clenched.

"You want to know what I did? Do you want to know where I was? I could tell you, and you could get mad, but it won't last. The only thing that has your full undivided attention is my mother who has been asleep for the past three months! And I get that your hurting but I'm hurting too. But I can never turn to you because you're so busy hating my cousin and everything around you to even notice me. I skipped school to go drinking. And your little spy knows that because he's passed me quite a few. Not to mention the fact that I think he likes them young." Gaia replies and the entire room fills with tension. Uncle Jace looks tense as he closed his eyes and sighed.

"You understand that I'm hurting?" he chuckled and Gaia's stance waivered

"You don't understand anything. You are a fifteen-year-old girl, you don't understand anything that I am feeling. And if you think drinking and parading yourself to older men is going to fix anything, then that just proves how naive and dumb you can be." Gaia's eyes widened, and from the corner of my eye, I could see her heart break into a million pieces. I grabbed her by her arm and pulled her back into Drax and me. She didn't pull away nor did she say anything else.

"She was my wife. Not just your mother. I lost everything that night your cousin decided that her life would be stuck in endless limbo. I watched her close her eyes and never open them. I watched that not you!"

"Jace that's enough."

"No, she wants to know how I'm feeling, so I'm going to tell her. You want to be grown, Gaia? Make adult decisions like going to taverns instead of learning. Flirting shamelessly with older men then be my guest. But while you're doing that just for the sake of my attention, I will be here trying to save your mother. The only person doing so I may add."

"We are trying Jace, how many times do we have to say this." Our mother comments and he waves her off.

"You aren't doing anything but ruining the relationship you have with your daughter and keeping your head in your ass." I snarl, and he narrowed his eyes at me.

"The only people who have been doing something to save Alina is us. We found the chest, we found out why they're here, and we are going to stop Selles."

"You're going to stop Selles?" Uncle Jace laughs

"You can barely even shift, what exactly do you expect to do? Use your magic? He's a magical being, magic won't work. You three are the most incapable group of people to face Selles. He'll kill you before you can even blink."

"We are far more capable than a man who can only see three seconds into the future. We'll take our chances." His blue eyes darkened,

"You little-"

"That's enough!" Our father booms

"That's enough travelers business for all of you. All of you will leave this alone and leave this to us. And since neither of you seems to want to stay in school, you can stay here and get homeschool for the next three weeks."

"What!" How was I going to get the date details from Adam? How was I even going to see him again?

"You can't do this?" Drax adds

"I just did. Go to your rooms, now!" I turned around and rushed out the door and went into my room. The two of them joined me while slamming my door behind them.
